Title: Rev counter reading high
Post by: Cashpoint on February 27, 2011, 08:08:27 AM
Cars been sitting in my garage for the last 2 month for it\'s winter rest period. Took it out yesterday to discover flat tyre :( as i took it to get the tyre replaced noticed the revcounter is show 3k RPM higher than the Apexi Commander.  Any one know how to rectify this, it was also spinning th rev needle round to 9k RPM. all this time though the Commander was reading normal.

Common problem fella, something to do with the capacitors Mazda used in the dials. You\'ll have to get another one and replace the entire rev counter unit.

Does that mean an entire new instrument cluster or just the rev counter?

People generally only sell the complete cluster, expect to pay between £40 and £50.

But you can replace just the faulty gauge. You might find one of your others goes wrong too, so it\'s handy to have a spare lying around. Also means you retain the true mileage reading.

You can do a search as some people have replaced the capacitors which are very cheap.
