Title: Single Turbo
Post by: JBerg on February 26, 2011, 02:00:16 AM
Just a query regarding single turbos...

I have a uk fd and I have been considering a single...sadly, I have more stringent emissions to meet compared to the imports.

Can I still pass if I rip out all the emissions, port and install a single? (without any dodgy mot\'ing please)

Does anyone make a cat that is very high flow and doesnt require the airpump? (which doesnt get burned out by our engine)

Thanks all

Jon

ANY porting at all will not pass emissions, only the stock port timing will.

SMB make the best cat and exhaust systems, I run them on RICESP, with no air pump, and it has better than OEM emission :King

Refer my thread under members rides and link to Aquamist for detailed pictures and postings on the subject.

p.s. You can make over 600bhp on the standard ports and a catalyst :King with a responsive single turbo < (90-140kmh time in 3rd gear of ~2.3 seconds) in a stock weight road going FD!

Jon if you have an Apexi ECU you can for MOT time adjust the PIM settings via the commander to lean out enough for emissions test then revert back after the test, so whoever maps your ECU when you go single can show you this.

Thanks for the replies!

I have heard about the pim trick...do you think it\'ll be enough to pass? I don\'t have a 3.5% limit...mine is a hell of a lot lower :(
