Guys,
I\'ve been contacted today by a chap called Ian from Herts who is looking for a buyer for his fathers 1982 Elford Turbo.
He took it yesterday to his local Mazda dealer to see if they would part ex it for something newer for his dad... you can guess the response he had!
His dad wants to sell it sooner rather than later and is minded to just take it to the dealer and get whatever he can for it.... Ian however would rather the car go to an enthusiast who will appreaciate it for what it is.
The car is taxed and tested and has just had 4 new tyres and a battery.
It is described as having 84k miles on the clock, minor rust here and there and apparently \'goes like a rocket\'!
I suggested ( bearing in mind I haven\'t personally seen the car ) that it should achieve £1500 - £2000 given its a road going Elford although I think they are open to sensible offers.
I\'m hoping the speak to Ian later and get a few more details. I do have his email and phone number but want to check that he\'s happy for me to post them on here before I do so. If anyone wants to contact him about the car in the meantime, please pm me or email me at ian08 at sky dot com. and I\'ll give you his number.
(The reg, Dave, is DBM 50X..... registered 23/07/1982)
Anyone fancy joining the Elford club with John and myself?!

.
Thanks Ian,
Looks well sorted that car. Nice from pic.
I think I\'d actually sell the FC to buy that. Not sure what it is but just recently the FB\'s have been getting more and more attractive. Good luck with the sale. Hope it finds a goode home.
I like that.......................................alot! :D
Looks to be a very smart car.
Maybe a glass moonroof too?
For a quick sale £1.5>£2k in present climate is about right, probably a lot more than he\'d be offered part exchange.
Stick my neck out,in a good boom type market i\'d say £3.5k plus subject to condition, but those days appear a long way off.
Ian do you know if it is an original elford or just the kit, as I thought they all had the elford wheels on them.

First, that is one very good looking car... side skirts as well!!! Very desirable... (but then I am biased...)
Second, the Elfords were done/sold on a "menu" approach. You could have whatever combo of custom features you fancied. So entirely possible to have turbo and bodykit without pepperpot wheels.
(eg. Miss January has Turbo, front and rear spoilers and wheels but no side skirts)
John
Did Elford do a rear valence spoiler too?

It just so happens that I know a bloke with a spare set of elford wheels ;)
mmm so temtpting

Ian:rolleyes:
Out of interest what do u reckon a mazda dealer would offer for this car px.
£500>£750???
Corret me if I\'m wrong but aren\'t those TWR skirts only I have a set of Elford skirts which, (I am in the process of packaging up for you Ian I promise) and they look nothing like those. I have just purchased some TWR\'s from Marcos and they look identical.
These are TWR skirts
yeah, I think they are TWR skirts or something similar, the front spoiler and rear spoiler are elford though. I suppose if someone wanted to add skirts later in the cars life, trying to find some genuine Elford side skirts would have been like looking for hens teeth
(http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss333/gsxrmovistar1/dmy.jpg)
There is no drop down on the skirts by the wheels,so i don,t think this elford has TWR side skirts.
ta stu..

Most Dealers will offer only crap value for cars of this age.
I know as iv talked to many a mazda owner wanting to trade a car in with me.
BTW this is such a hard car to Not buy.
Forgive me :D, but i so hope this is still for sale in a few months :D
I agree with Ian,deffo the front & rear spoilers are Elford, but those side skirts to me don\'t appear to be TWR,so who made them?
Ian had a red TWR maybe that pic here would confirm the side skirts?

its an elford front spoiler, they look like twr sides, twr made a complete rear bumper where the elfords just had rear spats but that car has no spats. I cant tell if its a mazda rear spoiler painted or the the elford one. Looks nice though. I would be interested and im only down the road, can you email me details please antnicuk@msn.com
Here is mine, its a got a turbo II engine/gearbox in it.

It\'s a grey area regarding what is an original Elford as all cars, in effect, had a \'kit\' fitted. Some, like Johns, had it fitted to a new car, others were ex press cars that Elford bought off Mazda UK and then converted and some were done by Elford when the car was a few years old but are these any less Elford?
There is nothing in the chassis number, on the body or on the V5 to identify it as an Elford so basically, even cars fitted with the Elford turbo setup recently, like mine, are just as much Elfords as cars done years ago.
I suppose we could argue that an orginal is one converted by Elford Turbo Ltd themselves but there again, and not being big headed here, I\'ve made a better job of installing the set up into my car than they have on the cars I\'ve seen. Wiring with scotchlocks and speaker wire.... not what you\'d expect from them really even if they were more pushed for time than me.
I missed Ians call tonight so I\'ll try to speak to him tomorrow and get the full sp on this car.

Sorry, sorry I stand corrected, how could I have missed the drop down detail. I wonder who made them, they certainly do justice as does the rest of the car. I Sooooooooooo want it.

Hi Jon,
do you want me to email you the sellers details?
my dad is looking after it in wales, unfortunately its been a bit neglected now. Its also had a rack and pinion conversion done.
Here\'s Ian\'s previous TWR fb,the sideskirts clearly drop down towards the front & rear wheels,on the Elford for sale in this thread they don\'t.
Ant,
It would be G8 if you did a thread on your car detailing mods etc, quite a few peeps here are doing or thinking of doing what your cars already got!
It must be a quick car with that engine in.

Good point Ian, and I think your are right, look at E-types most of the repros are better than new and I\'m sure yours will be the same, I supose its me and this original thing, but unless you have owned one from new who knows what could have happenen 25 odd years down the road.
Oh what a beauuttttyyyyyy! Very nice in Renaissance red - if I could convert my garage into a 2 tier perhaps?
had a chat with him and got some more pics...was proper interested but now he\'s hiked the price up to £2500... and I really thought it would be a nice addition to the 3 other rx7\'s I own :(...
has some rust here and there and needs a new passenger door and driver window mechanism just so any prospective buyers know.
£2500?
... can\'t see it making that much in this weather or financial climate, either as a trade in or anywhere else.
When was the last time we saw a 1st gen of any description make £2500?
Oh well... I still stand by my previous valuation £1500- £2000
here are a few more pics of it but the last I\'m posting... I\'ve done my bit to try and help.

Ive lost interest too! now
i phoned and had a chat with the guy and he said he is looking for £2500, at which point i also lost interest! Its not worth it in that colour and condition. I think he has obviously seen the interest and is chancing his luck. He said he paid £2500 when he bought it 10 years ago!
How can you go from being happy to accept a crappy offer from a dealer to wanting £2500?!? Is Don Wyatt involved? :D
^^^^^^LOL:Talking1
Here\'s Interesting Boyos....
The truly eagle eyed will have spotted it has an SA22C VIN. And a Yoyo Kogyo Vin Plate.
Now it surely seems to be S2 so I wonder if it\'s a Japan car (import).
So far as I know the SA22C designation was changed for all UK S2s to JMZFB. But maybe the change was part way into early S2 production.
Also when did Mazda drop the Toyo Kogyo part of their history?
Nothing of any consequence guys, just another puzzle.
It\'s possible to knit a jumper out of fog if you try hard enough.

I\'m really beginning to think this is the case. That Red \'X\' plate on Pistonheads (leather seats) is also designated by the seller as an SA22C.
So the very first few S2\'s might not have been FB\'s??
the scrap man has offered me 15 quid for this but due to the 1st gen prices going through the roof in the last 48 hrs, I thought I\'d offer it for sale on here...
it\'s a 1982 white Elford turbo... some rust and I\'m looking for £2500 for a quick sale...

Hi Mick,
this is the email the owners son sent to me...
Hi again, my contact number is 07940506230 and the car is in Hemel Hempstead Herts.
My Dad needs to get shot of it fairly quickly and he is thinking of just trading it in for whaterver the Mazda dealer will offer but as a old car lover (sorry VW campers) myself I wish it to go to someone who can appriciate it!
Cheers Ian
.... but this philosophy went out the window when MRC members started to express an interest in the car and he then wanted £2500. I had initially given him a provisional value of £1500 - £2000 bu that was without seeing the car.
Apparently it needs a new door and has other rot so I think £1000 - £1500 would be more realistic.
I haven\'t heard anything since but if he wants 2.5k, I\'d imagine he\'s still got it.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ian
cheers for that m8
