right decided today that i must / have to save for an RX, (ETA 12months)
:D
just acouple of questions and sorry if these have been said lots of times....im dont know much about the "Rex"
ok first question....whats the Efini? thing about? better spec? quicker? or the difference between say like on the Skyline the GTS and GTR?
tried to "follow" an Rx a few times once on a 600mile drive to Plymouth but it munched me once rolling....do both of the turbos kick in at the same time? or is one smaller than the other and "get you started" then the other comes in at a later date ?
lastly, if im to get one, (lets pray) quite fancy one in the midnight purple colour are these hard to get?
thanks guys in advance:wave
Efini is just the name given to the earlier models.
Turbos are sequential, but both the same size.
Midnight Purple is a Skyline colour, so your gonna have to get one resprayed. Doubt you could find one being that specific.
Lee
Efini is the JDM name for the Mazda RX7 (like all JDM MX5s were badged Eunos) you then have the different models Type R, Type RZ, Type X, Bathurst, Type R1, Type R2..... there is a thread which explais the differences in the advice about buying section.
The turbos as standard are sequential (i.e. one kicks in before the other - believe they are the same size but one of the FD boys could confirm that)
Not sure about the midnight purple, don\'t think it was a standard colour, but I may be wrong on that, are you thinking the same colour as Gurj\'s (GSB876)?
Thanks :)
ive seen a couple of Rxs on import sights in a purple colour...not sure what its called its different to the "midnight " purple R33/34
just didnt kow what to call it
so the Efini offers no advantage? better interior? spec?
They are all Efini!
As Lee says, they are all Efini, Efini is just the JDM name for Mazda when relating to the RX7. There were no early JDM Mazda RX7s, just Efinis (thene the differences in spec as I mentioned in the earlier post)
someone replied just as i entered my reply lol i got it first time around about the efini ie. Sunny and JDM pulsar
no ive seen a few RXs in a dark purple colour thought it may be standard
and ive a feeling keeping one of these on the road is expensive?

Coming from a GTiR, yes.
how so? the GTIR is expensive , insurance is near on £2k for starters
Well you can multiply your petrol bill by 2-2.5 depending on how you drive to start with.
Then there is just the cost of replacing anything. Tyres are more, but its the bits you dont think about which go wrong which end up costing the most, like a door handle or something silly.
I had a GTiR, and believe me its cheap in comparison though a bit hard to explain. I have an S14 200SX at the moment to run around in, and running it alongside the FD it almost pays for itself!
petrol isnt really a problem i used to do 500miles a week in my Pulsar,
Tyres, ive a mate who runs a garage so get them for trade price :D
my main concern is how strong the RX engine is>?>>>
the s14 is a nice car, is it the a or just the s14?
:)
I don\'t think Lee\'s too keen on his S14 :)
Are you not paying for fuel then?
500 miles a week in an FD is going to cost about £140.
Its just an S14, and no I dont like it very much really. Gonna sell it in the next couple of weeks now the FD is running, but still going to get another car to runaround in.
no im not planning on 500miles in an FD, was just saying that i get throu a lot of petrol,
the s14 is a nice car i prefere the s14a to the "14"
As far as a purple rx goes, mine is pearlescent purple and Adrian "eatmyrxdust" has a more deeper purple rx, if you check the rotorstock pics section theres some pics of our cars in there i think.

Thats being kind, surely? A trip to Gravesend at 120 miles just cost me £50! The 230miles od trip back from near Manchester to London when I first collected the REX set me back £80 but I drove it without going above 2500 revs!
Mind you, I do have a few mods on the car :) And its all worth it in any case. They are one of the most \'fun\' cars to drive imho. Dont think I would have one as my only car if I depended on it for practicality - I have a Calibra for that - £16 petrol for the same 120mile trip.
cheers
the pulsar is about £15 to 40miles
thats appalling fuel consumption
Yeah, twice as bad as my Pulsar was doing
thats using BP ulitmate ive switched to Optimax which is about 1.3 more full tank youd get about 200miles
15qiud to 40miles is heavy / hard driving, normal i reckon its about 60miles at about 80mph or so
