Title: engine loom tech
Post by: Archbish on February 20, 2011, 12:10:09 PM
So while the engine is out, and with the intention of going single turbo, I\'m going to rewire the engine loom.  However, there are going to be a number of connectors that are surplus.  Does anyone have a list of what the different connectors do?

I\'m losing the OMP, rats nest, but keeping Aircon and PAS.

Anyone able to help?

Other than a normal wiring diagram no,

It may be an idea to look at another single turbo car armed with a note book and camera to see what is used and what is not.

Knowing what plugs you need should make it real easy to then strip the stock loom down to almost nothing which can then be simply checked continuity and  integrity of connections to plugs,

Just loosing the rats nest should discard something like 8 plugs and associated wiring, should really let you see the wood for the trees :cool

Hope this helps,

Hey Clive - thanks for the reply!  having spent a long time with the twins, and finally getting round to stripping it all back, it\'s awesome how much space is around it!

I\'ve been shown a diagram with what all the connectors do, so will be using that to strip it back...  all the protective sheaths are knackered and crunchy, and a couple of the connectors are decidedly second hand, so rewiring will be a good thing to do...

looking forward to seeing how much can go
