Post by: JasonC on February 17, 2011, 02:44:27 PM
Anyone know where i can pick up metal hard pipes that replace the plastic accordion looking ones that go between the air intake to the turbos?

The closest i can find to them on ebay mate are these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FD3S-MAZDA-RX7-92-01-INTERCOOLER-KIT-HARD-PIPES-FD-3S-/220655822887?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33601ca827

They look the right shape to me, but they\'re sold as "intercooler pipes"...

bare in mind that these won\'t fit with a standard airbox, only open filters.

That\'s the ones I have attached to my Apexi filters, As Jackaleks pointed out they would need modified/extended to fit standard airbox.
You can have a look at mine if you want to check dimensions (that sounds dodgy but im to tired to try and rephrase it):D

Ah, see thing is i\'m using the Autoexe carbon intake so i\'m looking for something that will fit with the that which is pretty much where the standard airbox sits - so i reckon whatever works with the standard box should be fine.
Not really wanting to change my intake as looks great (sad i know..) just want some nice shiny pipes for it!

fair enough then buddy, the ones in the ebay link are what I had, sadly don\'t have them any more as I changed to the apexi intake / setup! ;)

Those\'ll so the job nicely...... the bottom smaller one can be a bit of a pain but top one\'ll do what you need... this is how mine was

when i tried getting them to line up to my stock filter i found that the top one was fine but the bottom one just wouldn\'t go in at all, the angle was much too tight. even getting creative with the grinder didn\'t help as by the time i\'d got the bend right there wasn\'t enough metal to get some silicone joiners on

you might find that they work better with the Autoexe box but they\'re near impossible to get onto the stock airbox.

And will they fit with a RE Amemiya intake?

again, top one yes, you\'ll have trouble with the bottom! I had ( and still have in the garage ) the RE-A filter before the Blitz setup ;)

Won\'t see the bottom one anyways when fitted (I have a heatshield/airbox around my filter) so I\'ll give it a go
