i know u aint gona have a clue waht im saying but il try my best lol

ok in my car is a boost controler when it is at 0 i am guesing that it is at stock boost and when u raise it im guesing the boost rises but what i want to know is how douse the engin run smothly with hight boost without needing a remap every time u icnrease it i am askin this because i beleve that our engin blew as a result of to mutch air and not enugh fule but anyway the engin shud be out within the next week and when it goes back in it will be joind buy a pfc and posibly a pfc boost controler

Right, to run high boost the car must be remapped as such to allow the high boost to run you need the correct fueling, if enough fuel is not being drawn you cannot run high boost levels as the result will be detonation.

A way to counter this is to have a Power FC as there is a knock rating given (detonation level), once you can see where that is you know when to back off.

I didn\'t run my car at stock as require possible remap, which i will be looking into after a dyno session next saturday where i will attempt to run high boost.

Bad news is that if you require more fuel then you may require not just a remap but also larger injectors and a bigger fuel pump.

See what may....

61 knock reading!!!!!

ANYTHING 40 OR OVER IS DETONATION ZONE!!!

I wouldn\'t rely too much on what that knock sensor tells you, it has a nasty tendency to pick up all sorts of noise, especially on a trailing throttle.

I only take notice of it only under boost, and even then only as a very rough guide.

Aye .............but its better to have some indication than nothing and then BANG, would you agree????

Although my knock reading never moves off 1???

Used to see 90s and 100s when I was running POwer FC, no worries. And motor still going 25K miles later...

Datalogit designers run their cars totally dismissive of the PFC knock reading from what I\'ver read i.e. ignoring readings of 130+

Make what u will of that...

Could be it\'s not working if it never goes above 1?

A very good point and have already thought about that, everything else reads ok, i am booked in for servicing soon and the knock reading will be checked.

Lets see what the score is.

The Apexi\'s base map (default setting) is very rich on fuel and should be fine for normal boost levels (even oksy for running 0.1 bar higher than stock).

It\'s always worth getting it mapped though - it\'ll develop a bit more power, use less fuel, be more responsive and give piece of mind.

I had mine mapped by WGT up in Cheshire and it\'s been amasing since then - smooth power delivery and hardly notice the transition on the turbos now!

If your ECU was 2nd-hand then it may have already had a map on it and should be reset to be safe.  Depends if you know the car\'s history (i.e. did you get it with the ECU already on it, did you do the mods since then, etc.).

Still not entirely local but yer nearer than i am & he is good for mapping said power FC not to mention all the other goodies but Pip\'s yer man at WGT http://www.wgtautodevelopments.co.uk/ (http://www.wgtautodevelopments.co.uk/) but a short blast up the M6.....
It shouldn\'t be running too lean at a guess as base map is pretty rich to say the least but not worth risking IMO

Good stuff Gaz,

the meets usually from 12pm - 4pm and is a mixture of all things jap, usual skylines, evos, scoobies and only ever a few rx7\'s usually just mine and scoobi Si\'s. Theres a pub across the road so plenty to drink and eat.

Do you know the way?? if not let me know or pm your phone number and i will call you later in the week to see which way you would come, and i can meet up with you and guide you there if you need to.

See you soon
