Post by: Paul R on February 13, 2011, 07:59:34 PM
Hi,

Just picked up my blue rx8 from a dealer, I just wondered if the previous owner was on here?  Reg no Gx53 vaf.

Cheers,

Welcome to the MRC dude
You may have more luck finding the previous owner over on the RX8 Owners Club

Hope you checked it for hot starting problems before you bought it

Tried there and no one has come forward.  It was ok hot starting when i picked it up.

I couldnt start it yesterday though, but I think it was my technique! I\'m used to piston engines!  I\'m never sure when to let go of the key!  Did a hot start today though and it was fine!

Going to fit new plugs and coils soon as a precautionary measure anyway.

Cheers,

Paul.

It\'s got 65k on the clock.  I know it had plugs at around 30k miles, but no mention of coils, so I think I\'ll get some uprated ones.

I would whack a set of Magnacore Ht leads on there too If you get them all from Mazda Rotary Parts then you will get a discount on the HT leads if bought with 4 coils. Well worth doing as the OEM Ht leads are not the greatest once they get a little older

What do you guys think of this?  off of ebay.  I\'ve read that they can be trusted by a few members?

Cheers,

Zapparts are apparently reputable.

its a good price, and as Will66 says they are apparently reputable however I am stull very wary of purchasing anything from e-bay thats actually going to be integral to the running of my engine... i personally would\'nt even tough an e-bay exhaust system but then I guess i am one of the exceptions and i have an obsession for a certain Jap tuner

The part number for the coils looks correct to me however I can\'t confirm the other items as I order mine from MRP and just trust that what\'s sent is correct
Though there are members on the RX8OC that have used that kit
Sorry I can\'t be more help

Can you do coils, leads and plugs for £270?  thats how much i\'ve managed to find them imported from the US. original mazda ones too.

cheers,

Paul.

your asking a lot to get coils leads and plugs for £270 from within the UK.
plugs your looking at around £100, Coils are £200 if your lucky enough to find genuine ones, then you got to add on some good Ht leads at least £35-£40 (if you look at the discount offered from MRP if you buy the Ht leads with 4 coils)
I would be very surprised if someone can offer you that price in the UK

Hi Paul ,
Im not being sarcastic but can you let me know where you can get them for that price because they are cheaper than our cost price !!

One other thing if the package is from the place you linked to earlier in the thread the re7 plugs are not listed by ngk uk ..

If you went to mazda for this

for 4 coils 4 plugs and set of leads it would come to £675

The best deal we could do for the
4 geniune mazda coils ,
x2 ngk re8 plugs and x2 re9 plugs ,
and a set of magnecor kv85 .

FOR

£399 delivered

And if there is any issues you can just give us a call ..

Hi,

Your right, the RE7 plugs arent listed on the UK NGK site, but they are listed on the US NGK site and lots of UK owners use them to reduce flooding as they run a bit cooler.

I have bought them from the place I put a link to on ebay.  Other members have used them and they appear to be reliable!

I\'ll report back when the items turn up.

Basically I should have the whole lot for about £270 inc vat/inport duty.

Cheers,

Paul.

The spec supplied by MRP is RE7-C for leading and RE9-T for trailing.
