Title: Wheel hop
Post by: Kenji on February 13, 2011, 03:40:31 PM
I noticed when I accelerate hard and the rears start spinning I get "wheel hop".
Is that a sign that I need new bushes in the rear subframe?
Or is there another readon this happens (needs more manfoot on loud pedal? :Hammer)

To stop this you need to replace the diff cradle mounts with solid bushes as well or similar, Kenji, this is also your problem, the "hop" banging sound is the diff unit jumping up and down

I have a (as far as I know) stock diff. Never opened the casing, so I don\'t know if there\'s an aftermarket one in there.
Both wheels spin though (2 black lines clearly visible, haha).

Interesting. I just thought that the wheel hop I get is due to the LSD trying to find grip ??

Hi Clive, I m running Dragon\'s Solid Diff mounts.. Still the problem is not going away!! I think I will get to the bottom of it once I replace other things that I think are causing this!!

Thanx for the info..

I managed recently to turn my wheelhop from a furious banging knock to a mild vibration by changing the sheared diff mounts with new thicker rubber ones and also change all the rear silent blocks of the suspension with urethane ones, except for the trailing arms ones that I replaced with OEM.

I\'ve read that some people just use a pinion snubber to keep the diff from hopping, but I don\'t really like the idea. :2Rolleyes
