just wonder why there\'s no RX\'s taking part of the national hillclimb/sprint/ speed championship in Uk?
it means not a "one day event" at old airfield some another every months. but every week end speed events.
myself drives a 13Bpp FC, won three A8 class in National Scottish championship 2010 and runner up in 2009,2006.
There\'s another one driver, canna remember his name\'s "fleming anderson"?( he\'s from Glasgow, based in englandshire somewhere and drive a modify white FD?)
is there\'s any another RX driver in national speed in UK?
and another one, RX8 driver and which was doing very well in hillclimb/sprint in Scotlandfor the first time in those events....;)
so what\'s went wrong in UK?
was it do the the moneywise or it\'s boring or most of it just for show-off " I got a rex with big turbo with 20" wheels but canna drive",spentmoney on the engine and canna afford to go racing, rather go drifting......etcccc...
beware my english\'s crap and hope it\'s clear to understand what it say.
The RX8OC are looking into a few events down south and I am trying to find time to get some in. But currently work gets in the way.
A long time ago there was this

Which then turned into this

The RX7 was stripped down and sold off in bits. I kept the engine and gearbox and put them in my westfield.
The westy has now done 3 sprints and finished 1st,2nd and 3rd in class and 2 top 5s against pilbeams and reynards.
Competed a completely STOCK RX-8 PZ in rounds of the Scottish Speed Championship which covers sprints and hillclimbs - including the (in)famous Doune :)

A couple of rounds of the British sprints and hillclimbs too.
Full details were posted over on rx8ownersclub for those who want more background. But follow up here as I\'m banned for being a bad boy :)
Some videos are at http://www.youtube.com/user/MatraEtAlpine?feature=mhsn#p/p and pics at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=199552&id=554942652 and associated albums.
This year is going to be split with a single seater on some events and the PZ for fun ( and a bit of "I can do better" comparisons ).
Thinking how to fit a rotary in place of the bike engine in the single seater :)

Anyone interested in competing in the Scottish scene , drop me a note and can assist on the basics. It\'s not difficult and classes exist for road going that do NOT require roll cage/full harness if you want to just try it. As last season, I\'ll be at the events anyway and happy to meet for chat or advice.
MSA classes for sprint/hillclimbs puts the Renesis engine at 1959cc so in with the up to 2 liter class .... avoiding the Class A3 500hp Evos !!! :)
North Scottish guy competes his white \'7 in the modified class and even on old and past it tyres beats the competition regularly :)
Vids are at the above too.

Just realised that it\'s your thread Iain !!!!!!
Wasn\'t wanting to "name" you in the last bit, so you got the title "North Scottish guy" !!!

Brain that is good brill, what I means is "National " not "club"
there\'s no way that Pilbeams,Gould, reynards, raptor saxon..... will be beating by westy in National scene. honest with me..... even with modify car like yours in Modify class will be very difficult to beat another cars like dax with V6 rover engined with TB.
why not go to national sprint championship in England, see it yourself, once there and you will be hooked.;)

Ha, early in the morning at british/scottish nat championship at kames 2010,

Of course silly me. There was no way that I was 11 secs quicker than any one else in the "WET" than all the other cars that had wets and wings to hold them down (that includes the 2.8 on tb reynard multiple championship winning car) His response was "simply impressive mate".
As far as the national scene...no thanks. Been there done that over the past 25 years with racing, rallying and sprinting both here and in NZ. Its a rich boys play ground and I am more than happy to be supporting local clubs and doing it for laughs. If an event I am doing as part of our "club" championship piggy backs with a national round and I can get amongst them than thats even better. London Irish event at Lydden this year is one example where we may be at along with the nationals. Also I like to now attent events such as Crystal Palace, more for the atmosphere and just racing and enjoying our cars for kicks.
Next outing for me at a club event is 10th April http://www.fdmc.org.uk/dim2010repa.php.(This is last years event.)
As for some of the RX8 guys they have been to FDMC with a veiw to getting involved with sprinting and solos (seanP ?)
^^ yeah, been talking Sean through this for many months on the other forum.
Trying to start up an RX-8 club championship along lines run in Club Alpine Renault to promote competitive entries into club level motorsport.
The FDMC was the ideal starting place for them to get it rolling with the autosolo events they run. Autosolo is a good starting place. Sprints/Hillclimbs can seem a bit "over powering" - in all ways :)
A win-win, more club entries for orgranisers and more profile for clubs.
I wont be entering after some issues it seems, but will be contesting "local" club events up here .... though local is maybe too broad as it takes me 6 hours to get to go race Iain on his home turf :)

that tyres\'s KumhoV70A soft and it was a 40th birthday gift from wife and now I\'m 48+
it\'s very old one and doing very well/last leg at the last Fintray hillclimb in August 2010.
it was lost its grips at last boyndie and trying to planed it down to fresh rubber but it\'s gone perish.....
I love rubber and its history.....;)

total agreed with you and I\'m not a rich boy:(,just a working man like you and spent hard saving money to enter the National. it was hard work and the reward\'s great for me to get three class wins at SHC,SSC and HSC

"Masda" RX8,

Yeah had pointed it out :)
Very few pics of the \'8 in action :(
Been told the metallic grey is a problem for the auto focus even on the best cameras !
Lots of the "pro" guys shots are out of focus !!!
I\'d been saying it was because *I* was too fast for them to catch :)
MAN that Doune shot, I reckoned I was barely squeezing between those barriers. Look, TONS of room. Aiming to add 10mph through there this season :)
Quote from: kiwimazda;742351.......As for some of the RX8 guys they have been to FDMC with a veiw to getting involved with sprinting and solos (seanP ?)
Brian, yep, seanp and myself are now paid up members of the FDMC :)
We\'re hoping maybe one or two more rotary guys might join before March 20, the date of an FDMC Autosolo which seanp and I plan to "have a go at". Just going along for some fun, and to see what these events are like.
Peter, I really hope you can sort out the issues with the RX8OC and return to posting over there too.
You\'ll enjoy the Autosolo and if it then gets the juices flowing then a sprint or hillclimb is another experience to try in a more challenging environment. Nothing focusses the driving like armco barrier and grass banks :)
Not going to be back Casey. Been made clear I\'m not wanted. Been told it\'s not my place to make demands of the committee. Que Sera :)
However, the club stand space I\'d negotiated for Ingliston Sprint is still there. Just it will be empty unless someone wants to take it up. Come up for a holiday and sprint on one of the historic tracks ( shame it\'s not the best part of it nowadays :( )
One warning on a standard \'8. Keep the oil topped up on every run. I\'d an end of day run where the level light came on whilst braking into a tight hairpin. Think it was pickup problem. Since then I keep it up and nothing again. May be co-incidence, but a word of warning. Anyone else experienced oil pickup or aeration on the standard \'8 pan ?

You are sadly missed Peter :(
Am glad you are on here though :D

Interesting; no-one I know of at any of the trackdays has ever suffered this problem, but I will change my briefing notes to suggest that participants keep their oil topped up to near the full mark. TBH, I think most of them do anyway, at least at the start of the day. By the end of the day it is typically down to less than halfway between the markers, but I tend to top mine up at the lunchbreak to keep the oil in the top quarter range.
Peter as you\'re from Scotland and like a bit of hill climb I just wondered if you know Johnathan Rarity?
"happy feet" .... don\'t know him personally.
We\'re studying his videos closely now we\'re sharing a single seater ... different lines/speeds :)
Iain, found some vids I\'d taken at Golspie I\'d not uploaded.
Stuck them on your for sale thread :) .... http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=743089&postcount=42

What!! sharing with Jo?( no way) so you\'ll be in the same class as me...
Jo and Adam are sharing, no ?
Mine is with mate who got frustrated at me running last year.
We\'ve competed classic rallies for a number of years and during it had a few "love to do single seaters someday" over the beers.
So when he decided he\'d join this year he took it on himself to find a single seater !
It will be shared with his son mainly, but I\'ll do the Sunday events.
So the PZ will still be out there ..... I\'ve some PBs to beat :) :)
peter, for your eyes only,
;)
