I am not sure if anyone has read of the hideous crash Kubica had in a rally car, but apparently he is in a bad way, almost severing his right hand. Talks are he will be out for a year! All the best to a quality F1 driver!
Really makes me think with the crash Gali had too, i guess rallying is the most dangerous car based motorsport!
Yes it does look bad but indications are that the surgery went well so he could make a full recovery.
I believe the timescales for recovery were anything up to a year but basically unlikely to drive this season.
They\'ve given him a minimum of 12months recovery period, but indications are they have saved his hand, forearm and shoulder.
Heard one story that the accident was on the way to the stage and not whilst trying to set a time? Any truth in that?

Rubish
On another note if you do a youtube look there is pics of the car. Wether or not in stage or out if an armco barrier enters the front of he car and comes through the bulkhead/fire wall you are in deep poop. Very licky to be alive
Very licky indeed.
By far the most dangerous motorsport is 2-stroke phone box racing. I\'ve had a close call on many occasion... *badum - CHHH*
Thats what happens when you put the I and the U next to each other on the key board:cool
I hear this morning the operation to the hand was very successful and he has movement in his fingers and he is doing well. Operations to the elbow and shoulder to follow. Those car picks are not a good image!

There\'s all sorts of timescales being quoted - on the news last night they said Renault said he could be back in two months! Wishful thinking. He needs more surgery apparently so they won\'t know until that\'s all done.

I heard that too.
I don\'t agree with people who are saying he shouldn\'t have been rallying, you can\'t wrap these guys up in cotton wool. Renault said they "didn\'t want a robot or a corporate man for a driver" and they all knew the risks.
Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery, even if that does take a while.
It was in stage as YouTube clips of the in car camera from.the following car show
Maybe some good news, he\'s hoping to make it back to F1 this season !!
Quote from: Kubica"Rallies are my passion. They are a hard training, severe for Formula One. I drive better in Formula One because I have taken part in many rallies. The rallies help you in concentration, considering that in Formula One there are very few tests.
"Rallies have allowed me to work on certain areas that I can improve on. It is important in a season where you have 20 grands prix."

Horrable accident, lucky to be alive - amazing the armco didnt go right through him! Reading a report today said he only had 1 liter of blood left in :2Confused
What a shame for the fella, They think they have a mega (F1) car this year. imagine if it turns out to championship winning car!
He\'s a lucky boy to be alive and I hope he gets back to racing and that it doesn\'t take away his hunger to win!
