Title: Sticking brakes
Post by: Kenji on February 06, 2011, 07:28:06 PM
My left rear brake caliper is sticking a bit.
Before that gets any worse and it f**ks up my disc and pads, how can i fix the problem?

I was told to replace the caliper slider pins (don\'t know the correct English word).
Easy fix?

And if the above is the solution, does anyone know the part number for those pins?

It is possible that the piston itself is seized and so you may end up renewing the calliper but first I would strip of the the caliper and take the pads out, grease the edges of the pads where they sit in the bracket, grease the two pins the caliper slides on and generaly make sure that everything is free including the hand brake cable.

All this is worth doing before  spending money,

Here is a link that should help removal

and while the caliper is off, you could spend a bit of cash and get a seal kit and refurb the whole thing (if needed)?? can be fiddley, but doable with basic tools ;)
