Title: Result of incorrect spark plugs?
Post by: nikp on June 04, 2004, 08:36:31 PM
I was just removing my spark plugs because my FD had flooded so that I could un-flood it (Obviously!! :p ) and removed the first plug, and noted the type: standard recommended trailing plug. Noted that it was highly dirty, and figured i\'d need new plugs, so put it back so as to plug the hole. Then i took out the plug on the same rotor but above the last one, and noted the type: standard recommended trailing plug...... :o  !!!!!!!! Me thought!

Maybe I the last one wasd actually leading, so took it out again....erm, No! Trailing plug! So i thought that maybe the person that did the plugs last put leading plugs in one rotor, and trailing in the other, so i took out one of the plugs from the other rotor.......er, trailing too! So, it seems that my FD has a full set of trailing plugs, with no leading plugs! No wonder I have had trouble starting her! I think it may be the reason i have been having symptoms of mis-firing too!?

Would this also create boost problems as well, cos i\'m wondering whether the boosting issue i have had could be related to that too? Any ideas?

if you mean they were all BUR9\'s then this is pretty much the norm as 7\'s are hard to come by for the leading set....

RE:Worx have 7\'s in stock. about 8:50(ish) + vat.
You may as well get them in and see if it sort s your problems out, all you have to loose is about £20.

Yes, putting 7s or 8s in the leading will help it not to flood.  Plugs would not be anything to do with boost problems, though.
