Title: putting together fuel system!
Post by: TomTom on January 28, 2011, 05:59:41 PM
hi guys, ive finally got the cash together to sort my fuelling out! im keeping the 550 primary so they are no concern and have a pfc also so management is sorted!

Im looking at getting the billetbitz secondary fuel rail, bosch 1680cc injectors and i have aquired an adjustable fpr...
i am on a budget so think i will keep the standard fuel lines but just replace the clips!

what else will i require? like fittings and fixtures, resistors etc?

thanks for any help guys, i want to put together everything needed before taking the rx to the guys at reworx to have it fitted and mapped!

pretty sure Kev\'s (BillitBitz) fuel rails use AN fittings so you\'ll have to get some AN/push-on adaptors at least. think about a more gutsy fuel pump and re-wiring it with direct power too.

guessing the car is on twins at the moment? RE:Worx got me to 320bhp with a completely stock fuel system hitting 90% injector duty on standard twins with stock boost. the parts i\'ve got to go on are a Supra fuel pump, Aeromotive FPR and a couple of 850cc for primaries. Geoff told me that this lot with a bit of an increase in base fuel pressure would bring the injector duty down and let him squeeze a bit more power out.

im running a single to4e, and it achieved 399.8bhp on standard injectors with just a walbro pump....

Thanks for that but i have aquired a a fpr already, its pretty much everything else that i need!

Can anyone who has put together their own secondary fuel rail kit \'firewall fwd\' help me with some suggestions of parts and shops used..?

The only rail i can find this side of the atlantic is the Billetbitz rail, anyone got experience with this? and where the hell can i get everything else lol

I got my secondary rail from Rotary Art. It looks far more substantial than any other secondary fuel rail I\'ve seen. I\'m not saying this is any better, but so far it\'s given me no problems.

The one thing I would say is make sure they are in stock. I waited over a YEAR for mine, basically because he had a new batch made up after the guy who did the first lot did a terrible job and they didn\'t seal properly, so a second batch had to be made.

I second that. Car will run a LOT better...

The BilletBitz rail is a work of art. I had endless trouble with a KGParts rail, and getting it to seal properly on the threads. Kev\'s rail eliminates this by having the AN fittings directly onto the rail - no daft screw in\'s. Highly recommended.

Only down side is he doesn\'t do a primary to match, so you need to tap the primary rail for an NPT to AN or screw about with the fittings...

Obviously with the billet bitz rail ill need some An-standard fittings? And so I will need to alter the primary rail although I\'m retaining the 550s...? What the advantage with ID2000s over bosch 1680s I presume they are 2000cc? And will they drop straight into a billet bitz rail?
Cheers guys

If I went for id2000s in the secondary rail, and retained the 550 primary whar kind of power is this setup capable of? Do the id injectors fit into the standard rails??

No, the ID\'s are for aftermarket top feed rails.  And \'crazy power\' is the answer - they claim to be good for quite massive fuel pressure and flow consistently 3000cc plus at high pressures, though main benefit seems to be consistency and capability to flow well at quite low volumes as well.  Have a look at the Injector Dynamics website and see if you think they are worth £400 a pair versus the Bosch 1680\'s.

I haven\'t made up my mind yet- have all the plumbing on order but not picked my injectors yet either...

wow 400 a pair is well out of my price range... if they had some how fitted in the standard rail then it would be a different story! may i ask where u got all your \'plumbing\' please? with the exception of the rail i havnt a clue where to find everything else!? cheers

I bought from Summit racing, braided lines and all AN-6 fittings.  Probably spent about £300 including delivery but that includes an Aeromotive A1000-6 & gauge.  Not arrived yet so probably got a duty & vat sting coming...

Missed these questions, sorry!

Primary rail in stock setup has a fuel pulsation damper on one end (which you need to remove), and joins to the secondary at the other via a banjo fitting and an o-ring push fitting (held in by 2 screws).  If you intend to move to AN-terminated lines throughout then you need to find a way to join the primary rail to AN fittings.  ALternatively you can just put AN to push-fit connectors on the end of the billetbitz rail and run standard rubber hose - still need to work out how to connect the primary rail in though.

I chose to tap the ends of the primary for NPT, then use NPT to AN-6 fittings - I should say although I\'ve tapped the primary rail and fitted my adapters, until the rest of the gear arrives and I can put it together I can\'t tell if I\'ve tapped it cleanly enough that it\'ll seal tight enough - if it doesn\'t I\'ll need to buy a new (well, used) primary rail and try again... and again... :)
