Title: Help, correct fitment for after market rims?
Post by: aaron_rx7 on January 18, 2011, 08:56:47 PM
Hi ive decided to change my rims after seeing a picture of on fd on rota grids. My wheels at the moment are 8.5" wide, 18", running 225\'s on the front and 255\'s on the rear, the car is on hks coilovers and has plenty of clearance in the arches.

I\'ve emailed rare rim\'s they\'ve said 18x10 ET35 rear and 18x8.5 ET35 front will fit fine.

This car is running 18x9.5in et30 (front) 18x10in ET15 on the rear

And this car is running 18×9.5″ +38 front, +20 rear

And this is my rx7

Also help with colours of the new rims would be appreciated, im thinking a dark anthracite? but in the future may get them re-sprayed pink and remove the spoiler to make the car look a bit jap loon!

Thanks

So what do you wanna know mate?

What size offset and width you can run will depend on your tires and how much poke you want.

You could even go for a lower offset if you tried hard!

Im after the tyres to fill the arches but obviously not catch, just a cool aggressive look? what offset and width do i need?

An et20 will fit with a roll on the back and say, a 235, poss a 245 depending on camber. Won\'t fit totally stock arches though.

et35 with a 255 is easy fitment on stock rear arches.

FD front arches are lame, and not very accomodating. To get the concave look wheels on the front you\'ll need to run a 9.5. et35 with a 235 should fit but may scrub a little,  depending on height and geo. 225 would be easier.

What you want to go for depends on exactly how aggressive you want to go and what arch work you\'re willing to do. For instance, a 255 will fit on an et20 with a flare on the rear.

So im thinking roll the arches and run 9.5" et35 with 225\'s on the front and on the rear 10" 235\'s et20... How does this sound??

Should give you a reasonably aggressive stance, with minimal arch work, and a small amount of stretch, with a \'balanced\' look.
Bear in mind that depending on tyres used, ride height, and geo, you may need a slight flare to fit the 20\'s on the rear, but you should be ok.

Don\'t take my word as gospel though - I\'ve only mucked about a little with 18\'s, I\'m more a 17 kind of guy - I\'m extrapolating out a bit but the fronts should tuck pretty easy (if not, a touch of camber should solve it) and there\'s a chance the rear may need a small pull/flare.

Oh, and this is the point that I recommend Phil or Paul at Archenemy to do your arch rolling :D
