Rad would be quite important, along with:

Ecu
Injectors
Fuel Pump
oil coolers(?)
Water Injection(?)

From what I saw of single turbo set ups at Rotorstock a few people were running these with a std radiator. Apparantly they flow quite well, but obviously the volume of an uprated all aluminium one tends to be double that of standard, which will help to keep those engine temps down. If I I were in a position to be able to mod my engine then an uprated radiator would be one of the first things i\'d fit, well before increasing the boost, fitting a front mount etc etc. Basically what i\'m saying is that you need an as solid and as reliable base as possible to build up on when tuning in order to get the best results in terms of performance and reliability:)

US e-bay have quite a few different all aluminium rads available for relatively low money (around $300-400USD), even with a std engine I am considering getting one, but the only thing that is stopping me is the shipping and import charges, which will be quite high for this type of item:rolleyes: :(

Regards,

Paul

I think Geff does a stock location uprated Rad, but I can\'t remember the price...

He\'s also getting the people that did steve\'s rad to make up some all ally replacements.

I would say one thing about ally rads from my limited experience - some of them are shit - quality and performance-wise - so dont presume that just cause its ally and bigger that it will be better... I had an ARC rad when my car was imported, excellent quality and worked a treat, but got puntured one too many times and had to be replaced. Had an \'uprated aftermarket\' rad from a company who will remain nameless which was a) piss poor quality and b) was not very effective at doing its job. In the end I managed to nick Geff\'s new mazda stock rad and temps were the best I ever saw. So the stock unit is a good performer if its in good nick i.e. not 10 years old, battered (no, not like the sausages u get at the chippy Owen ) and full of sludge!

One advantage any ally rad has over a stock one tho of course is not having plastic end tanks.

Standard Rad is fine. Just control the temp with datalogit hottest mine gets is 84. Only possible week point is plastic end tanks which is well easy to spot anyway so I don\'t really see the advantage of aftermarket rad when you have a datalogit. Make sure the front mount allows good flow through it also.

Standard radiator will be sufficient. In Australia we use FD\'s for road racing without any mods to cooling system in 30-40deg celcius temps. Spend your money on a good intercooler before rad.

Get a good Rad first !
here in Germany, our cars are very stressed going very high speed on autobahn. accelerating hard, going over 250km/h etc. My first mod was an aftermarket rad and believe me, this will be the first thing I would upgrade on any RX-7.
In my opinion, water seal- failure is happen coz of poor cooling you get from stock rad.

Appols for the slight hijak, but it is connected to the radiator thing.
Brian - you programmed your PFC to start the fan at a lower temperature ? - is this possible and if so anyone know how to do it with the hand controller.

IMO Stock rad is fine if in good condition :)

You need FCEdit software to change fan cut in temps.

Since you\'re in Notts best place would be Pip at WGT engineering which is in Northwich off M6 - he can source you a good radiator chap.

If interested i will post phone num for you.
