Title: Pre Cat
Post by: P44CKO on January 06, 2011, 12:09:52 PM
Guys,

Ive got a 1992 Jap Import RX7 FD3 Efini

if its jap import, does it definately not have a pre cat in the downpipe?

also, is there anything specific i can look at on the downpipe to be certain it is straight through without dismantling anything?

Just concerned about the issues with pre cat and if necessary go down a HKS straight through downpipe route

cheers in advance!

Mike

no, Jap imports do not have a precat. Well mine def doesnt!!!

As long as the pipe is the same diameter the whole length, you can be 99% sure that it is a straight through section. Insides tend to need a bulge of some sort to fit.

It won\'t have the pre cat, but the DP is still reasonably restrictive - a downpipe will really help. But it will make you swear. A lot. Get someone els eto fit it if you don\'t like snapped bolts :D

Cheers guys, if it had the pre cat, i would have made it one of my first modifications to fit the hks downpipe, but as it doesnt contain the precat, im guessing its not as imperitive to change it out, so will "invest" my cash into more important reliability modifications, like an alloy AST & gauges
