Yep, it\'s a football thread, anyone not bothered can turn the page now :rollin
Dunno if any of you Premiership prima donnas concern yourselves with the lower leagues, but Darren Fergusson (Sir Alex\'s son) got the heave from Preston this week, arguably deservedly so, given how miserably they\'ve been performing this season. The question isn\'t really about the sacking of managers after very short tenure because that seems to be partand parcel of the game these days, but rather about the way Fergusson senior reacted.
Preston had four Man Utd players on loan and the first thing Sir Alex did was recall them to his club in protest at the sacking of his son. Now, he can of course recall them whenever he likes (contract depending) without giving a reason, but is this act of petulance very admirable or just a childish sulk?
I thought it was slightly amusing how he took his toys back and refused to let anyone play with them when Preston sacked his boy...but pretty much guaranteeing that no-one will employ Darren Fergusson ever again, then? :3Confused If I were him, I\'d be furious with the old man, like it\'s not bad enough getting the sack you have your dad then wade in and fight your battle for you, how embarassing! Be like getting into a fight at school and having your mum come in to break it up :o What do you guys reckon?
EDIT: Doh, Darren Fergusson is what the thread title should say, Duncan was of course the huge scary bloke who used to play for Everton :Hammer Canb\'t edit the thread title so it\'ll have to stand as a testament to my spazzwittery :rollin

Duncan Fergusson? What you on about, boy ? Now have an opinion or fduk off :rollin
Look at how badly they are doing with the Man U players. Not much of a loss the way they where going.
God I hope they stay up. A lot of the people I know are PNE fans (Since I live 15mins down the road)
Shaun
But you may have missed one little thing, Darren wanted those players and might have convinced Dad to do him a favour - once he got sacked no favour required = players back to Man U asap :o
As for big DUNC - leave me mate alone or i\'ll tell him to pop round and give you a bashing :rollin:rollin:rollin
shame to see aswell....Preston were doing ok just a couple of years ago.
In think the Championship is now the toughest league in the UK.
To get in the premiership takes monumental effort.
One year you are in the playoffs, next year you are relegated (ala Plymouth)

spurs in champions league.....everton never got there :p
I would say that just typical Fergusson and in general Man U, first to throw the toys out the pram at the slightest hint things dont go 100% in their favour!
Would seem like the press are all over it and suggesting that he shouldnt be throwing his weight around and as you say, childish and wrong of him to do so.
I find football quite comical these days, the recent Rooney saga, 1 open goal scored in 10 months and he thinks he is worth that much money!!! Tevez and City etc Its like a pantomime.
P.S What is up with Chelsea, one minute scoring at will, next minute conceding loads of goals and cant beat the likes of Villa and Wolves, maybe they have been without key players but seems to me its come about since Ray Wilkins left or should i say pushed..

I\'ve been thinking the same thing. The downturn in performance seems to have started just after Ray departed. They don\'t seem have playing with the same spirit since he went.......

They didnt have much good to say about him apparently, bet he is smiling now!
It was certainly a strange one, and the truth will probably never out. I guess he had a falling out with Abramovich or one of his acolytes, and they clearly gave him the sack. Chelsea have very obviously been pretty pitiful since, so at least Wilkins can have the last laugh.
As to Fergusson, amusing though it was to see such a public display of juvenile petulance, surely it\'s a far from admirable act. Like I said in the OP, Darren must be furious because surely all it\'s done is prove that not only is he an (at best) average manager but that he also can\'t operate in the real world without Daddy to help him along? Sorta like the opposite of Nigel Clough, who may not have set the world alight managerially like his old man but at least has done it all on his own merit. IIRC when he was playing, he was only ever referred to as "the Number Nine" by Clough Snr just so there could never be allegations of nepotism :yes.
As to al the media hype around things like Tevez and Rooney, I suspect a good percentage is just pure speculation. Tevez or Shrek has a bit of a strop at being hooked, the news vultures run with it and befor eyou know it, they\'re inventing "insiders" (never named, obviously because they probably don\'t exist) who swear blind that he wants to leave the club.....and then print ever-wilder rumours for like two weeks solid. Meanwhile, the players seem quite happy with their extra two million a week
I guess you get lots of situations like this is the sporting world. People getting opportunities because of their parentage!
However as you say, it would have been far more honest of Fergie to have let his son dealt with the sacking and publicly stayed out of it. If Fergie jnr is anything like his dad he is probably just as spoilt and perhaps thought his reputation as Fergie\'s son proceeds him and thought he was un touchable because of his dad!
Fergie is obviously an incredible manager, but, too big for his boots is probably the most apt thing you could say, didnt i also read something about allowing his players to play for their country a while back, i.e he objected?
No player or manager is ever bigger than the club.
Even Mourinho was let go by Chelsea even though he made them into a winning team every season and is possibly the best manager in the world. IE every club he has been to he has won the league, Fergie has only done it at one club and allowed much time to do it.
Sadly for Mourinho he took the real madrid job and has to compete against the best club team in the world BARCELONA :Party
The managerial debate of any club makes you think. Liverpool crying out for Hodgson, now they want him out, who would want to be a manager these days.
Looks like Roy Keane in the latest victim at Ipswich! I can\'t keep up with all these managerial changes, they are happening so fast!
