Title: shop in London with sports seats to try?
Post by: michaelb on December 29, 2010, 08:37:28 PM
Hi

I am in the market for some reclining sports sears for my fd but I want something a tad more comfortable….

Is there a shop in London where I could try to “fit my frame “into a bucket seat to see if it is comfortable? I am 5 9” but due to bodybuilding I tend to were XXl clothes.

Regards,
Michaelb

I bought some Mazda Speed seats which would suit you perfectly, couple of my mates are into body building and they fit in them fine. I had some Buddy Club seats previously and even though they were a large size they weren\'t very comfortable!
You\'d be better keeping your standard seats and then trying out other peoples seats at a meet rather than blowing a wedge on an uncomfortable set. Another good option is to get a standard set re-trimmed in leather, shouldn\'t cost more than £450 all in, worth a thought?
Dave.

Dave

Many thanks for your valuable input, where could I get Mazda Speed seats in the UK?
Shall I Google it or do you know a specific place…
The cheapest quote I had here in London was £650 to re-trim my seats â€" its always an option…I would do it for £450...

Hi Michael,

I paid £1,000 to have my FD seats recovered with quality leather some 11 years ago so this sounds O/K

Alternatively if you want new seats and seats to sit in and try, goto the Autosport show at Birmingham\'s NEC in January

http://www.autosportinternational.com/

Hope this helps

Thanks for that, have you had them inside your fd?  Do they fit OK?

I bought my Mazda Speed seats from Martin at Speedline Imports on here, always great service from this seller! The only downside was the mounts were from an MX5 and i couldn\'t find any RX7 ones so i had to fabricate some, not an overly hard job though.
I use a local trimmer for my cars especially my T5 vans, he\'s done some outstanding work and he\'s not expensive especially as we are in the motor trade. He\'s just about to re-trim another VW interior for me for my next T5 combo and i won\'t go anywhere else even though there are 3 others in my area. For no more than £450 you\'d get them done in leather or he has some really decent looky likey leather that\'s even cheaper.
If you want to let me know what you need i\'ll get you a price, you can deal with him directly if you like so there\'s no middle man earning on you either :Thumbs-up.

Many thanks for your reply

I have standard 96 fd seats and if I chose to have them done in leather than I am after re-trimming just the seats.  I might do them in black and white in order to match it with my paint work.

I have heard that the best hardwearing leather is the one they use for 4by4 seats.  That is what I am after I think.  You could get me a price or I could get in touch with the man direct.  The question is how long would the job take?  I would have to get to South Wales and have it done in one day otherwise the cost of fuel would be too much if I had to come back

Michaelb

hahah youra tight arse lol:chat.. i think it would be far more than one days work. also if it was done in a day it would be rushed and the standard would show. a courior would prob charge 50 quid for taking and returning them from london and back..

or stay in a b&b overnight. enjoy the local delights :-)

Very true! The chaps name is Steve and he runs a company called Autostitch. He won\'t do them in one day though, you\'d get them done within 2 days as he\'s quick but you\'d wait until he\'s finished or he won\'t do them for you as his work although reasonably priced is first class.
I have a spare pair of seats at my shop that i could get done for you as long as yours as in decent condition you\'d be welcome to use them as long as you don\'t let me down! Give me a call or email if you want Steve\'s number, i don\'t need to earn off you as you can deal with him direct. I send him a lot of work so he\'ll look after you but make sure you mention you are a \'mate\' of mine as i\'ll let him know if you are going to call :cheers.
