Title: attachments question please help
Post by: RobMatthews on December 27, 2010, 10:06:30 AM
Ok so what im trying to do is attach a picture to a for sale thread, that i\'ve already used to reply to a wanted ad that is already in my attachments, downloaded from my computer, can i do that or can you only use the picture once? so i have to upload another pic of the same thing?

If someone can make an idiots step by step that would be great!
thanks rob

It\'s easier to use a photobucket account Rob I don\'t bother with the attachment function.

Get the picture on your desktop and make sure it\'s sized right. The Forum will only accept pics that are smaller than 1000 pixels on the longest dimension.

Go Advanced on your post, click \'Manage Attachments\', select the pic from the desktop and hit \'Upload\'. It will take a few moments then you will see when its uploaded and click where it says \'Close Dialog Box\'.

Complete your message words, Preview the post if you like and Post Reply.....That\'s it.

The key is that dimension thing and spotting when the Upload is complete.

Ah, I think I see where you\'re coming from now.

I would guess (and it\'s only a guess) that the forum server stores the pic linked to your message. So in that sense it must be a use only once upload.

But you can easily find all your recent posts (in your profile section); find the post with the pic in and right click on the pic for a dropdown to instantly save a copy back onto your desktop. Mac\'s do that and I would think PC\'s have something similar?
Then upload the same pic again with your new message.....no need to bother resizing to less than 1000 pixels on a side because it\'s already been done to upload it previously.

ok go to www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) creat an account then upload as many images as you like then when the pics you want are uploaded hover your mouse over the image .the image extends four tabs underneath the picture the bottom one is the one you want cut copy and then post the img tag into your post it will look like words untill you hit post then it becomes a picture doesnt limit you to size or space because photobucket is hosting the image so you can do as many pics as you like .

Find your list of posts Rob. Can\'t you recognize which post it was in the wanted section?
If not I don\'t think you can do anything.
Very very old posts get pics deleted I\'m afraid. (And the trouble with photobucket is that the pics in there seem to get deleted very quickly if the owner doesn\'t maintain them).

If you can find it, bring the pic back to your computer by \'Save As\' (right clicking on mouse), then upload it to the Forum again.

Reason - If you\'ve deleted the pic from your computer then you have to bring it back again as described above to upload again for the new post. - I doubt there\'s any linking possible across the MRC server to save you uploading again.

Space? minimal for 1 or 2 pics, considering all the pictures that appear on here.
