Not sure what machine you have and how adjustable it is but first try to slow the wire down and this should allow you to start getting penitration into the metal.
Hope this helps

you need to turn the power up, its only a small machine so would need to be up fairly high, you then adjust the wire speed so that it flows smoothly into the puddle of malten metal. If you feel the gun japping back its because the speed is too fast for the heat setting to be able to melt the wire being fed.
I\'ve recently learnt to mig weld, and I found all the tutorials, including rough guides to power settings and wire feed rates on www.mig-welding.co.uk (http://www.mig-welding.co.uk) very very useful!
There\'s some great little videos clips, such as a clip of a weld starting with wire speed far too slow and slowly speeding it up to far to fast, and showing where its right, so you can look back at it and get an idea of how it should look and sound and what will happen if the wire speed is wrong.
My reaction is are you moving the torch too quickly? You need to create a kinda puddle of molten metal then start slowly moving it along.
