Hello Chaps
Any one know the correct plug type for an \'85 1st gen? I have a yank manual that doesn\'t list NGK plugs.
Also it mentioned hot plugs being better for town driving and starting. Waddaya think?
Not sure about which plugs should be in a gen 1, but as far as the heat range thing, the gen 3 is \'MEANT\' to run 7\'s leading and 9\'s trailing.
NGK however charge mortage money for 7\'s, (when they have them in stock) so most peope run 9\'s leading and trailing.
They start getting dirty after 3,500-4000 miles, but should only cause a problem in cold/winter weather. But not many people suffer this.
Do a search on the subject, as I know it has come up before.

12a\'s should be running NGK BR8ET as standard for both trailing and leading

I\'ll have a look at the plugs in my 12a turbo.from what i remember, they are somewhat "unusual"...
Yeah, I\'ve got BR8ETs in my \'85.
They were new, but now they are black and always full of black petrol when I take them out (they\'ve been out 4 times today in vain attempts to start the bugger).
Do you think they might be \'fouled\'? What do you do if they are? New ones?
Also, will these need to be changed for hotter ones once the turbo goes on?
We use BR9ET for the 12at in std form on std boost.
BR8ET are used in std 12A wit electronic ignition but if you use 1st gen (aussie) points type ignition we use a B7EM all NGK.
Hope this helps, in AUS they cost
B7EM $6 each
BR8/9ET $11 each

Thanks for the info. Are you supplying them?
I can if you need them. I am not sure of the conversion rate but I am happy to price and or supply these type parts.
