Title: Possible boost issues
Post by: ScuttleRX on June 02, 2004, 01:05:03 PM
Since around the time when the car had a service and MOT a few weeks back, my boost seems to be slighty off.

Im making between 0.1 - 0.15 less than what I should be in the lower gears, but boosting normally, sometimes slighty over (but this happened ocassionaly anyway) in 4th and 5th
Any ideas what this could be?

I was thinking maybe the turbos are on their last legs..?

These problems are normally related to wastegate fatigue or solonoid issues. Dont be too concerned.

Hi Anthony,

Cheers for your reply :) If it is the wastegate or solonoids, what would be my next course of action in rectifying it (bearing in mind im a technical novice).

Are there any checks I can do or will I be best taking it to a garage.

Also am I right in thinking that the wastegate is kind of built in to the turbo pack, so a knackered wastegate would mean a new turbo pack (not an entirely bad thing as i\'ve seen a nice spec of \'99 spec ones that I need an excuse to buy:) )

Cheers

Andy
