Title: gaskets
Post by: Kenji on December 06, 2010, 12:15:30 AM
I\'m soon getting my FD, and am on the hunt for a spare UIM and intake elbow, which I want to paint.

Are there gaskets between the UIM and LIM, UIM and thrlottle body, and throttle body and intake elbow?
And if so, can they be re-used?

I know form my 1JZ-GTE in my previous car that Toyota had inserted steel gaskets, that could be cleaned and then re-used. Did Mazda do this too, or do I have to get new gaskets?

Yes you have a gasket between the UIM and the LIM and between the UIM to the throttle body. I bought mine from Jon at Atomic Rex. I believe there mostly normal gasket material but sometimes theres metal ones

We have all of them in stock if you want them.

We supply our own version of the UIM to LIM as well as LIM to Engine.  I have the OE versions of the other gaskets in stock though.

We also do exhaust manifold gaskets at about half the price of OE ones.

2x Throttle Body to Intake Elbow

Sent to The netherlands please?

I\'m pretty certain there is no gasket between throttle body and intake elbow. If you think about it logically, it wouldn\'t make a difference if air entered a gap between the TB and elbow as it hasn\'t been \'measured\' yet. Its only when its entering the system past the throttle body that you need to worry, as its \'unmetered\' air and will screw up your idle, etc.

There is a large O ring that fits in a groove in the throttle body for the throttle body to elbow connection.
PDale is correct in that it is unmetered air but your best not having any boost leaks, so if it needs replaced, replace it.

YOu are looking at potentially 2 bar of pressure in there its possibly best you do have some sort of seal in there :)

The UIM to throttle body gaskets are £11.40 +VAT (£13.40)
The throttle body to elbow gaskets are £13.19 +VAT (£15.50)
The UIM to LIM gaskets are £19.99 +VAT (£23.49)

Excluding delivery would be £104.76

Did you get the UIM? If not I will do that for £20 and I can work out the delivery based against all of it.

(These VAT prices are worked out at 17.5%)

There is a large rubber triangle shaped \'o\' ring that sits between in a groove on the TB. True that a leak here would not make a difference to fuelling , however it\'s a leak, and any leak means that the turbo just has to work harder to provide the required boost pressure. So you get more lag, and more heat generated. So basically, it\'s bad.

You wouldn\'t happen to have any type of intake elbow as well now, would you?

If Kenji is interested do you want to send the elbow down to me Phil, and I can stick it in the box?  The postage will be a lot cheaper then

Phil, that would be nice of you, thanks.

AtomicRex:

I would like the following then:
- UIM
- 1 gasket LIM/UIM
- 1 gasket UIM/throttle body
- 1 gasket throttle body/intake elbow
- intake elbow

and I\'m also looking for 2x 63mm and 2x 70mm silicone couplers in black. Do you have those as well?

How much for the above including shipping to Rotterdam, The Netherlands?

And how can we sort out the shipping for Phil??

Its not in the cupboard where its been for the last 5 years, I seen it there a couple of weeks ago but the wife has packed it away as im in the middle of moving house, I have stuff stored in various different houses and garages and not quite sure where it is.
If you get stuck I can track it down when the snow melts a bit.
Sorry Phil.

That\'s okay mate.
I\'ll look for another intake elbow then.

Jon, could you pack up everything and let me know the total amount?
I\'ll paypal the money to you then.
You wouldn\'t happen to have a polished or carbon elbow there now, would you? ;)
