Title: Rear arch replacements?
Post by: haywes on December 01, 2010, 06:40:21 PM
I put up a thread before about something similar, but I was more asking which would be the best option. What I want to know is if there\'s anywhere that makes replacement arches/panels for the FC? I see a lot of people getting them for other cars, and I was hoping a company somewhere can supply them for FC\'s.

Anyone have any ideas of places that might be able to supply them, or any good bodyshops that can do this sort of thing for a good price with good quality? The rust isn\'t bad on my arches, but I really feel like new arches would be better quality than having a repair in the long run.

Cheers :driving

what about cutting out the rust and then fitting the wide arch rears?

I wanted to keep the original shape down the side really, I did think about taking the widebody route, but I think I\'d prefer to keep it as it is and just have the arches done so I know it\'s all solid. I think if they have rear wide arches, they need front ones too, or the car just look like it has fat hips! I didn\'t really want to go into getting front ones too, and spacers and all that, as much as I\'d like to, but I\'m still on a budget! These cars + Uni = silly :rollin

I\'d actually found them already, and got excited when I saw \'wings\', but it\'s the rears I really need, I\'ve found fronts in a few places, but no rear arches yet :( Thanks though!

I once had some rust cut out and repaired etc. Got the car back and it looked identical to stock!! guess it really depends on where you go! Have you tried going to mazda?

Did you have both of your arches done? How much did it cost you and where did you have it done? And I haven\'t asked Mazda yet, It\'d crossed my mind but I hadn\'t tried yet. I\'d imagine if they do though, they\'d be pretty pricey! But I\'ll ask them anyway, it\'s worth a shot!

Was £150 for each side. Was a little independant place near wycombe. It was so long ago that I can\'t even remember who it was!!

Mazda probably will be pretty pricey. You could aways see if they can get part of the replacement pannel, then you can take it somewhere else to get everything chopped up and fitted etc.

Garage D do some pretty impressive fab work

The Mazda price in 2006 was £214 inc vat each.

That is pricey! Still, might be something to consider. Garage D isn\'t too much of a mission away from me, so I might give them a shout too and see what they might be able to do!

dthebuk, was that £150 each side for the whole job including them being repainted? If it is, that\'s an awesome price!

each side. The paint was fairly crap on the car so they just sprayed the area and tried to match the best they could. TBH the paint didn\'t look too good, but the shape of the arch was spot on
