Title: New RX7
Post by: SickBoy on June 01, 2004, 07:51:46 PM
Hi guys

Just startin the process of buying my first RX7

Been reading the forum a lot to learn the ins and outs bit worried about the rebuild bit and wot mileage to get pre rebuild or after :(

The main question is who are the best importers to go to dont want to get ripped off so rather go to one that you guys have dealt with i would buy one from a forum member but not many seem to come up

Looking forward to joining the fold , any info will be well apreciated

Thanks Lee

LO mate there are many good sellers, importers & fixers on here so shouldn\'t be too hard to find sumin suitable, what were you looking for standard, rebuilt, low milage, seriously tuned, already in UK or willing to wait & import kinda thing?
If you fancy it looks like Gurj has posted the bubble inn meet details in Derby, ie not too far for you, on this thread (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6805) & can give ya a few ideas in the flesh if you fancy it or ask away chap....

Im a Pulsar GTIR owner at the mo so im normally at bubble most meets anyway so i will look out for some rx7 there

Im lookin for summit modded pref with a decent kit on it vielside if poss but not to much so it is unreliable

It will be and every day car but i do very short milage

Rather get one thats here as it will have some uk history but if i can find a well recomended importer i may go that route

I got mine through Miguel at NewEra (http://www.neweraimports.com/) (as did a lot of people on this board). He sells really good cars, but you pay for it. You can go round your local importers, but I guarantee you\'ll see a hell of a lot of tat (especially for £7k) before you find a decent one. Miguel has a couple of 95 Type RBs with same mileage as my car for £12k. You definitely get what you pay for with RX7s. £7k is one of those in-between figures - you\'ll either get a middle aged/higher mileage car that needs a rebuild, or an older car that has been rebuilt already.

As to your worries about rebuild, 60k is probably closer to the average than 50k, but it is variable. A compression check will give best indication how close it actually is, although I have to admit I\'ve never had one done on my car.

Hi guys. Sorry to hyjack your thread sickboy.
I too am in the market for an RX7. Currently own an FTO and looking at the possibilities of p/x.
Would I be welcome to pop along to your Bubble Inn meet as I\'m only up in Matlock and would like to get a bit more knowledge of the cars before parting with my cash.

Cheers,
Rich

Hi, another GTI-R owner here of the forum :D

Im looking into RX7\'s too, mine too would be a daily driver but the rebuild part really concerns me! I think i could proberly stretch to 8-9k after i sell my R.. Could that get me a nice gen 3 RX7? Im also looking for one with a body kit and fairly standard.. :)
