Hi,
I\'ve got my Fd booked in for a full service and the garage has quoted £130 just for the spark plugs.
Does this sound right? What plugs should I put in, I only ever use my car for road use?
Hope someone can enlighten me.
Thanks.
If they are the standard plugs then you are paying over the odds
All 4 are only £33.80 plus vat from MRP

Mine are £7.99+VAT each...I can get them delivered for an all in price of £47.54 via Fedex or £45.00 via royal mail.
Plenty in stock if you are interested.

please please PLEASE tell me that you\'ve not booked it in to a Mazda dealership? They tried this one on me as well.
Get the plugs from wither Jon (Atomic) or Clive (MRP) along with some oil and a filter(£15 and £6 from Halfrauds) and do it yourself!! Takes about 20mins for oil (15 of which is waiting for it to drain out) and the plugs are slightly longer as you either jack her up and get them from underneath, or take off half the engine to get them from the top!

I\'ve looked at these, which lead me to ask the question. On the same site they have another set @ £35 each. I\'m assuming he\'s quoted for these but I\'m not sure if I need them as I only drive it on road, albeit at \'fun\' speeds regularly

No, it\'s going to a local specialist. I like to put it into a garage to keep the service records up date if I ever sell.
Just stick to the BUR9EQP plugs, unless you are running big power, there really is no need to run the colder plugs....they will just foul quicker on the shorter journeys. We also supplier the colder plugs at £25 a plug.

the 10.5s are better for well modded engines as they are said to be \'cold\' i.e. they conduct more heat out of the tip rather than keep it at the tip which could cause detonation.
Unless you are running silly power then the 9\'s are perfectly fine - if you care, i\'m running 9s with 307fwhp.
Thanks everyone.
Sounds like the 9\'s will do.
OMG 130 notes for plugs thats bad. i asked halfords for a set of standed ones and they said it will be 25 each so i laughed and walked away and quoted i can get a set for 40 on the net.
