Title: What import company to use for FD?
Post by: YAU730 on November 18, 2010, 12:55:35 PM
Want to import a clean Grade S,6,5 - Brand  new to perfect condition FD but don\'t know which company to use between JM-Imports Vs Newera Imports, both sound as good with JM being more cheaper but I fancy going for Newera after seeing there vid. any comments?

Newera everytime they bring in and find absolutely awesome cars.(We know cos we have worked on most of them)
Only thing is that to find the best sometimes you have to be a bit patient.

Mine was through Jurgen at JM, and (well, I think) was a very nice car - they will be cheaper than Newera.

However, unless you are really specific in what you want, you\'d have to be a bit of a mug to import a car at the mo - the exchange rate is utterly horriffic, it will work out crazy expensive compared to buying one already in the UK. I purcahsed mine when it was 230 Y to a pound and it still worked out more than one in the UK (but probably cheaper than getting just what I wanted - white 99 spec bodywork was hard to find) - however it\'s now nearly half that. Cars in Japan are cheaper now, but still, it\'s so much cheaper to get one already here. And you don\'t have to wait for yonks!

Both are excellent but you are buying at one of the most expensive times!! You really need to be buying with a rate of 200yen to the GBP, it\'s still only around 130 at the moment. Long gone are the bargain days of 240 to the pound, that was heaven :Laugh.
Rx7\'s have increased in price in Japan, the rate is ..... and by the time you find one the VAT will have increased to 20% alongside your 10% import duty, shipping and UK legalisation :2Confused:2Confused

£1000 deposit with Newera.

Miguel gets a massive thumbs up from me, not only did he source my new FD but he also arranged its modification in Japan.

Before going with Newera I sent emails to all the major importers (Newera and JM being the main ones), asking for their opinions on what was available for my budget, and to be frank, Miguel was the only one who took the time to properly write back to me with his thoughts and the options available for me and my budget.  That was a big decider for me and I can\'t say I\'ve regretted going with Miguel.

Yes he is more expensive than most, but I\'ve found him great to deal with, and knowing that he was the one out in Japan looking for my car was also very good.

got mine through Jurgen at JM imports and mates have got Supras and Silvias from him too... if i was looking for another one i\'d go back to him again and again... very good at keeping in touch - i was very picky and he must have showed me about 20 cars over 3mths and when he found one i liked had his guy in japan look over it and send some pictures back before i even paid a deposit.

Mine came in through Martin at Speedline Imports, trade sponsor on here. He often has some cars available and keenly priced.
