Title: Smoky on boost
Post by: Kenji on November 16, 2010, 12:10:33 AM
As I\'m currently in the market for an FD, I\'m constantly scouting for a good one.

I\'ve found one that\'s really to my liking lookswise, but the seller told me the car had a slight hint of smoke on full boost.
Is that normal for a rotary (I\'m new to the engine)?
The engine i supposedly rebuilt by Eddy Doyle. Does that mean anything to anyone here?

The car is also missing some interior things, but that\'s something that can be solved easily.
The engine is most important.

Eddie Doyle is the rotary specialist for ireland and everyone on irishrotary.com rates him very highly, No personal experience but have a look on there for any feedback you may very well spot the car on the there or find some history.

Smoky on boost says to me knackered turbo seals.

Or if he\'s playing down the issue and it is in fact smokey all the time, then it could be oil control rings, which would require the engine taking apart.
