Title: RX8 Coil Packs Replaced
Post by: les smith on November 12, 2010, 07:23:03 PM
I have just replaced my coil packs in my RX8 and I have noticed a differance on the start up and general running of the car. I got the coils from MRP and the service was excellent. The job only took me 1hr it was well worth doing. I think it will be worth while changing the plugs next just to complete the job. Thank for the info received from MRC. Do the plugs require a special plug key ???

Cheers
Les  :cool

You can get the plugs out with a regular plug spanner.  It\'s easier to do it through the left-hand wheel arch otherwise you have to develop 14 wrists to get past the air intake.

Thanks for that I had changed the plug leads when I did the coils and used the access under the arch (Nice one). I also noticed a white powder in the old leads at the plug end. What does that mean???

That means it was a good time to replace them.

The white powdery substance on the end of the plug was caused by the old Mazda leads letting and holding water up inside the spark plug lead boot,

This is something that will not happen with your new magnecor leads so you will now always maintain a good connection between your plugs and leads :D.
