Title: Tempest Rally
Post by: kiwimazda on November 03, 2010, 09:47:51 PM
This Saturday will see the running of the Tempest Rally. Its on Gravel and will see 2 rallies in one. In the morning the 4wd cars head off in one direction and the 2wd in the other so that each group if you like gets a chance at the stages that have not been mullered by the other cars. There is a strong 75 car field
I am running the warren stage Nr Yately and both groups of cars get to go through our stage twice during the day. Anyhoo I just recieved the final entry list for the day and ceck out car 133
http://www.tempestrally.com/downloads/Entry%20lists%20at%201st%20November.pdf

I am itching to get back on gravel again...something might have to be sold

Very strong line up but please excuse my ignorance (I don\'t follow these normally), could you possibly expand on the abreviations for me.

Dave.

By doing a biy of a google I see that the car was  imported from NZ to do the Historic championship. It wont be a pukka GPB one as we all know where that one is. I dont think Bernies car( For sale on various web sites) is a pukka one
due to the firewall/bulkhead mods, but I could be wrong.
Jacob Scamell it seems has been competeing for some time manly in Escorts and has done the Silver Fern Rally in NZ
I will know more on Saturday

Ye heaps thanks, makes it easier to understand. I had an idea the latter two were manufacturers that was why I couldn\'t work out the first 3.
Thanks.

I will see what I can do as marshalls are not supossed to have cameras but and as I am the Stage commander(very important role,I stand there and do nothing while everyone else does) I should lead by example. But since when have I ever followed the rules?

You say the Marshalls cannot have cameras - well technically you\'re not a marshall but the top dog ... sooooo ?

You want to try driving the thing as it spits all that noise out beside you and then backfires under deceleration just for you to put the pdeal down again.
I hope I dont get to itchy feet this weekend or I might have to get another tin top to replace the westy....if anyone would buy it

Ok. Big day today and we were a bit short of marshalls today so I had to do some work. I got no pics of the car but I can tell you it is a 79 and is really well put together. Its got some  good stuff in it which I would expect after talking to Jacob at length about the who,s and whats of where some of the bits came from. It sounded absolutly fantastic as he left the start line.

As for the 2 ltr class
They used to run in the 1400cc class but that has now been changed from what I understand and they now run in the up to 2000cc class. My one always ran in that class for sprints. You can take a 2000cc car and enter the class above if you so wish. This is good for several reasons some of which are there could be less cars in that class and it will then give you a greater chance of taking home some silverware, you can run bigger wheels and tyres. If I had a RX7 rally car I would do the same.
