Well, although I love a good oil filter, I might be tempted to sell one on, see if any members want to make me an offer...what do you reckon? £15 sound about right?

It wasn\'t my original intention to do so, you understand, and I didn\'t set out to make a profit on this :rollin

Back to the serious side...Are these genuine Mazda Oil Filters? I\'m not sure. Will someone say when they\'ve got one?

The one thing I will not substitute as a part is the Oil Filter.

Genuine Mazda means the correct mesh/material inside to stop nasties and if there should be a check valve inside to stop drain-down a Mazda filter will have one.

Air Filters, Fuel Filters, even Brake Pads, all can be Chinese Freddies from DingDong, Oil Filter has to be Mazda fra\' Japan. And don\'t forget to change the sump washer every so often.

Hope this business with Don has gone away, doing my head in. Back to Happy Days I hope.

To answer your thoughts Dave - I believe they are by Nipponparts or something very similar.  Hmmmmm ...... now you mention it I understand where you are coming from - cheap isn\'t alway the best route to take if the quality is compromised.

Hmmm, fair point there, but surely they are made to the same specification?

I have K&N oil filter at the moment - although the "wrench off" design isn\'t as much a benefit on the RX7 than on my other cars ;)

Oh, I think K&N are in the top league....I wouldn\'t have any worries about them either.
Specification? I\'m not sure..All these copied goods flooding the market?

I don\'t think the aftermarket copy people worry over much about a spec sheet?
\'Don\'t know\' Marc is the answer to your question so I play safe.

I\'ll go 125 but it must be boxed.  If you wont sell it I\'ll buy a chip pan instead - don\'t ask me why but I\'ve always wanted one :Giggle

the oil filter landed today.... very good service, i only ordered it Sunday night and it arrived this morning.

Must say, it looks fine to me. I take Daves point re cheap Chinese imports but I don\'t neccessarily think you need to use OEM filter always. Obviously these days we just have to be a bit more wary. I\'ve used aftermarket filter for years ands never had an engine fail due the oil filter.
Personal choice I suppose.
These look good quality, the plastic around the base is just the seal that is peeled away where it\'s fitted, which this one already is.

Came from a seemingly reputable company with a vat invoice and some of the FB prices on their website are worth a look.. check out that fuel filter!

I does look ok Dave..... that was a very good point of yours and something that I hadn\'t considered to be honest but this looks fine.
Many people buy filters branded as Halfords etc and I can\'t see these being any worse.
Japarts price for a fuel filter is also very good... looks exactly like the OEM one as well.
The service I\'ve had from them has been excellent. I wish they did the clutch slave!

Just looking at the track rod ends, inner and outer, I think I might buy them to put in my parts bin, and yes the oil and fuel filters are a must.
Just booked RXY in for the clutch for the 24th. shame as the tax runs out on the 30th.

OK, Sent for Oil Filter, Fuel Filter and Rotor Arm. Not least because original Mazda Rotor Arms (Mitshibushi) used to be in excess of £30.

Get this, the Oil Filter has Mazda Part No. on it...B6Y1 14 302. No Sump Washers available though

But well pleased, thanks all.
