Title: Power/Jet washing
Post by: don wyatt on October 30, 2010, 10:59:47 PM
2 Queries ( No not Diva fever),

Does anyone know where I might be able to get the complete underside of TMX power washed and then re-undersealed and painted ? (in Kent that is)

And has anyone power washed a Rotary engine before, is it any different to doing a standrad engine, in that I mean being careful of the electrics, distributor and stuff. (anything else I should know about) I generally leave an engine running if Im going to do this by the way.

Yeh I jet washed mine (after a gunk degrease/wash) the other week with the air filter housing removed too.
Sealed the carb chambers as best I could then covered the carb with a plastic bag and secured it, alternator was removed (for its own cleaning) and was careful around the dizzy.
Left to dry for 24 hrs, refitted the alternator and hey presto - started first turn of the key.

Are far as jet washing and undersealing in Kent area - have you tried Dibs\'s \'Pit\' - worked for me although I did mine over a number of weeks, arduous but worth it.

Good luck Gringo.

It\'s not a difficult job, it\'s just a dirty job. The good thing about doing it yourself is you get to find out what the shell is really like - good, great or bad. It\'s only worth undersealing / wax oiling when you know the steel is good otherwise what a waste of time & money - sorry money doesn\'t come into it cause it doesn\'t cost that much.

Thanks for that, wise words indeed.
it has been mentioned that soda would be a better option. So if it all works out, I may give that a go.
Cheers Chico.
