As Above, my Name is James, I just bought a 1992 RX7 almost identical to the 1 in the 1st fast and furious. It\'s very nice but needs a fair bit of work to get it to par. Mostly cosmetic, Things like loose interior.
I was wondering if any 1 could help with a little problem I have, The car has a MBC (manual boost controller) fitted to the inside window pillar, You can turn it up or down with a twist of the screw/handle. But I cannot see what my boost is currently set at or how to tell. I assume please inform me if this is correct or wrong,
The boost gage reads -0.5 when idle and goes up to 0 bar when accelerating, Which I assume means its not really running nay turbo. If I turn it I assume it will show higher bar when accelerating and not when idling. Even at 1 bar the BOV engages so the turbo must be working.
I am based in Sheffield is there a close by Specialist I could take it too for a compression check.
Could some 1 link me the benefits of becoming a member of this site as There was nothing posted under the Benefits section, Also how much is it.
Could any 1 recommend insurance? I am 25 with 0 no claims (traders policies don\'t give NCB) despite being claim free for 8 years. Currently Adrian flux were best at £1250.
Where is the ECU located and how will I know if it\'s not standard.
Does any 1 have any bucket seats for sale? Preferably cheap and red in good nick.
Is the rx7 usually very road noisy? IE I can hear the exhaust under where im sat despite it being a quiet exhaust.
Sorry for all the questions, I just dare not drive it until I now the turbo boost is correct and have taken it for a compression check. Thanks Best regards James. Finally any 1 going to posty cruz at barnsley this sunday?
Hi James.
The ECU is behind the passenger kick panel, at the passengers left foot.
The noise is probably the exhaust rubbing on the body or braces.
The MBC is a bad idea, and would suggest someone has been tinkering with something they knew nothing about:Hammer.
These cars are very rewarding when they are running nice but if the boost and fueling aren\'t controlled properly the engines break and can be expensive to repair, so best not give it any stick until it gets a good look over.
I think WGT in Cheshire are the closest specialist to you but someone else might know better.
Phil
Welcome to Rotary World. I would recommend WGT as they are nearer and pip is well experienced to advised you..otherwise Jason at Super7 Autos is good as well. Look after the car mate and do check oil and Water at all times-believe me, you wont regret. Keep one tuner for your car so he knows what has been done to the car and what els he can do. Owning an Rx taught me that cutting corners means losing more money-spend money on the car once and ensure that no corners has been cut to sort any defect. This attitude will always pay back.
Hope above information helps

I\'ve got a cracking PDF with drawings that shows how the rather complicated sequential setup works if anyone fancies it? Explains what actuators / solenoids are working, why and when.
