Rotorstock 8 20th August 2011
As many can imagine leading up to R7 I was not sure if I ever wanted to even think about another Rotorstock, BUT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------After seeing so many people turning up and enjoying R7 yet again there will be a Rotorstock 8
This came about after seeing not only many many of your great cars turning up, the guys from Europe exclaiming that this IS their Rotary heaven each year, as nothing else comes close to Rotorstock throughout Europe, plus mainly due to a new open minded regime over at the RX8OC, it was great to see members from there finally getting their hands dirty at Rotorstock and getting out there both on the sprint track and the strip AND HAVING FUN, which is what Rotorstock is all about.
On top of this we have had very good reports out there from Japanese Performance, Banzai who finally portrayed Rotorstock in exactly the light I wanted as an event, in that we stage Rotorstock not only for our Rotary cars, but also all other Japanese cars as well, plus it was great to see the wonderful coverage from speedhunters.com giving Rotorstock an excellent pictorial report across the planet.
As normal I wait a couple of weeks after the event to find out Santa Pods feedback, and yes, they still want to operate Rotorstock on behalf of Mazdarotaryclub for another year and have even set a date earlier than normal.
One thing we are still debating about is do we put it back to two days as a few have asked including the guys who drive in from Europe each year
As you will see from the already published calendar , //www.santapod.co.uk/calendar.php “Officially†the next day will be a RWYB day and the Monster Truck Nationals however if you want to we can convert R8 into a two day event -------------------------------------thoughts please
Standfast work taking me away from the situation I will see you at Rotorstock 8!
If you are likely to have a large contingent from Europe (and I am still working on persuading a few people south of the Alps, like Rei99 for example) it might be worth doing this as a two day event perhaps including a breakfast run for those staying overnight?
Personally I would like to see/(try to) do more drifting and I would certainly love to see 2 sprint circuits going on at the same time to cut back on the queues.
I am glad you will be having R8, it was such a happy event for everyone who attended, including the Santa Pod guys, it would have been a real shame to scrap it!!
:D
Glad to see this is going to take place next year :D
Work & other personal things permitting - I WILL be there! :)
im looking forward to r8 im bringing my single turbo fd for the first time ,
spent all of this year rebuilding engine adding loads of stuff:D

i was the guy who turned up in the widebody esquiss bmw e36 coupe at rotorstock 7, :D
This is all good news :) and even better for me... it lands in my 2 weeks off :)
Looking forward to this already!
Jono
one word
AWESOME!!!
I will be attending also, although not in a rexy I will be the following year though, how much is it?
look forward to attending for the first time!
my first FD and my first rotorstock. Cool :D
Clive - would it be possible to have either a time slot on the existing sprint track or a second track (wishing) for a bit of drifting, there are a few purpose built rotary drift cars that are all now competing in BDC and would put on a good show and I\'m sure will happily give passenger rides.
Let us know your thoughts
Thanks
I\'ll be there, rs7 was a great day out :)
A bit closer to the time I\'ll try to push the event on mx5nutz a bitmore as well. See if they want a stand or whatever.
I Also agree with the others in this thread that drifting is visually impressive, and iwhether it\'s a professional demo or the option to let everyone go and have a go, I think it should have more representation than last year :)
Fingers crossed for the weather!!!!!

I want to talk to Santa Pod to try and run the sprint track differently so we can run at least two cars at a time so while I\'m at it I will try and sort this as well, after all we do try and make Rotorstock as "Multi Event" as possible to interest every one.

:driving:driving:driving
Can\'t come this year,as now have a MPS :cool
Doesn\'t mean you can\'t come and enjoy ! Is there an MPS club ?
Shaun
Don\'t forget Nigel that Rotorstock is and always has been staged for the whole Japanese car community,
I\'ve seen you mention two other car clubs related to your new car------------bring em along :chat
Ok I mention it on MPS Owners Club shortly :D
Cool can\'t wait again for this.
Weather permitting I will be there. I have tires, I have sorted the aero, the suspension will have some tweeks thanks to some drag racing guys who run street rods so with a bit of luck it will hook up well. If I can better 13.4 then that\'s good enough. Hit the bar and go home.:rollin
I have got a quick question regarding RS8.....
At the moment it looks like I won\'t be making it in the FD this year, as the engine that defies all rotary laws (running on 4.3bar comperession @ RS3 and still going 4 years later LOL!) Well, finaly she has thrown in the towel as it looks like the seals have let go I might nurse the car and see if I can get one more season out of it.... but if this is not possible I might bring along the drift truck for a laugh, and have a go on the drift and sprint track.....
But here is the thing, what are the rules and regs on the vehicles using the 2 tracks, do they need MOT, TAX & insurance?? the reason I ask is because the truck has non of them and never will! LOL so would I still be able to use it on the tracks or would I be frog marched off the pod site if I atempt to run it??
Cheers
Jono
will be making the long journey down ;)
You\'d still be there at home !!! Or at least hear them !
Shaun
i can hear them in the garden problem is it makes me want to be there every weekend!
with regard to the handling curcuit, can you make sure there is no reverse park bit. i went to the bmw show this year and they ended the curcuit with a reverse into a bay. too much chance of killing a gearbox (ive done it before)
im really looking forward to going this year now there is something i can do, ie the handling curcuit. it was wicked last year :3gears-rh
Should be forwards only :-)
Rotorstok is the only rotary specific event where we can all be together, sharing the same passion, we should all be fully supporting it. Personally im mega chuffed theres an R8 and i hope there will be many many more.
To the question of should it be held over two days i suppose it doesnt give people who may work (or whatever on the sat) an opportunity, but hey its on once a year can you not plan ahead ! Also the one day for me means im not wondering what day to choose or may miss anyone. For those travelling from europe may be a sun meet would give them travelling time on the sat but then its getting home aswell :3Confused
:Thumbsup!

Thanks for the positive post:Thumbs-up
We have tried it before over two days, but it just does not really work. We would rather have a full Rotary stand for one day only rather than having half empty stand on both days.
Hope you are coming along to RS8!
Hey guys,
I\'d like to visit Rotorstock from Germany and I\'d like to fly to GB.
Now my question. What is the next airport to Santa Pod and maybe a good hotel not far away ?
Thanks
Peter
London Luton airport i would have thought
and hotel wise use this link, it will tell you the nearest hotels and b&b\'s
http://www.santapod.co.uk/g_stay.php
Thanks a lot :) :) Need to check for flights from Munich now :) :)
Peter
Luton or East Midlands. If you find yourself flying to Stansted drop me a PM and I can probably help with getting you to Santa Pod!
I would definately prefer a 2 day event as treking frm S Wales for a day (even though it sounds great) is a bit of a pain. Having recently sold and left the MX5 OC for something with a little bit more omph :Gigglethe best part of the club was the social side on a 2 (3) dayer. Wandering around the campsite on the night between with a (several) bottle(s) of wine/beer and chatting to other owners about upgrades etc :guinness
Ceri
received my tickets this week. will we need stand passes, or will these tickets get us access to the stand?
No stand passes are required.
Just park on the Rotary stand.
Hi all,
Not many participants from Holland this year, due to some members being on holiday and other usual visitors are planning to go to Walter Frey later this year. Some others like Arjan is thinking of coming over for Brooklands earlier in the season next year. So I\'m afraid, one of the few from Holland is me.
Still not sure what car to take with me. Yellow RX-8 has been sold now,
Could try one of the 3 Eunosses(red, black or silver), FD-kazama, FC 13B PP, Green SA (with or without trailer), Chopped FC conv, or FD powered FC, maybe AZ-1 will be interesting . Also have 1 or 2 very original gen\'s 1(white and silver) Maybe you can give me some advise.
Thanks,
Kees
Great, thanks lisa

Bring fd kazma!!
Good to see your coming over again Kees, I think you only missed Rotorstock 1 :King
As you say the AZ-1 would be interesting but I would say that the FD will be the crowd pleaser also we have a big sprint track this year for the FD to play on. :3gears-lh
Clive did you also see my pictures in motion?
