Title: clutch issue
Post by: playtime on October 22, 2010, 07:54:17 PM
Oks, Abit of a random one here, but Ive been offered a 2nd hand clutch for my rx fd, and the guy says it has hardly been used, but the cover plate centre teeth have at least .5mm deep grooving at the end of each tooth, and the actual plate has only about a mm or so from surface to top edge of rivets. So my question is, how much meat normally comes on a new std clutch plate? I dont see any brand names on it, so i\'ll assume its standard blueprint etc. Anyone fit to tell me? Cheers in advance

hi mate , to be honest i wouldnt recommend a second hand clutch your asking for problems , why did he change it , it could have a warped cover (which would cause vibration )
I would save a bit more cash and buy a new one ..

cheers rich

Cheers for the reply. I dont really need one, but he told me, he blew his engine, not long after fitting it, and its only 40 notes, so thought it would be worth putting away as a handy spare. Just curious to know what depth these are new. If its only say 2mm, then I know theres plenty of life left in her, but if someone says 5mm, i\'ll give her a miss lol.

Give it a miss, its scrap. My last clutch was worn down to below 2mm min limit and that was scrap. Oh... and give the guy a slap for being a douchebag....
