Title: Clifford G5 Concept 650 Alarm Siren Broken?
Post by: DrDan on October 20, 2010, 09:21:03 AM
Chaps,

I know a few of you are alarm-savvy... I am just looking to confirm what I think I already know.

After washing the FD the other day (not sure that this is related, but fear that it may be). An hour or so later the siren on the car starts going off. It will not turn off with the remote, so I disconnect the car battery - still no joy, as it\'s a clever tamper-proof battery-backed siren

Anyway, after a few minutes the siren stops, however, now it seems not to want to make any noise at all :( No "chirps" when locking and unlocking, and when I open the door without deactivating the alarm, plenty of flashing indicators (I\'m guessing the alarm brain is good) but no siren :(

I know that the batteries in these sirens can go bad, so I have had the thing apart and checked, there is good supply voltage +12.6v to the circuit board, and the batteries (rated at 7.2v) are showing 7.6v, so I *think* that is all good.

My summary here is that siren is somehow terminally broken, and I need to replace the whole unit.

Three questions:
- is there anyway that I can check that? i.e. short the piezo piece of the siren in some way to see if it is fduked?
- is there anything else I should check before I replace it?
- where can I get a replacement Clifford 515u siren at a reasonable price?

Thanks,
DrDan.

Strangely, I have the opposite problem. My siren works fine but my indicator flash hasn\'t worked for months. I think it\'s cos Cliffords just aren\'t very good....

Between us we may just have a fully working one :)

I had the same problem, I changed the battery and still no joy. It was the cable from the circuit board to the speaker u/s due to water ingress.

TRIND,
Where did you get the battery pack for your Clifford. I also have a siren issue and I think/hope it is just the battery! I opened it up and noted it is a 6 cell 7.2v 300mah pack with cells about half the size of an AA battery but I did not see any useful part number that I cna find anywhere else. Help please.. Also what does u/s mean?? I presume you just re-soldered it and it works agan?
I have heard lots of grat things about cliffords in the past few days researching the net!!!

Cheers
Lee

U/s means in my head, knackered . The wire from the board to the speaker was fooked. Lol
