Well after the joy of getting the engine back in and starting the car up for the first time I\'ve got another major problem that is doing my head in.
On my 1st test run I have a problem........................
I don\'t have indicators or headlights (dipped and main) or any taillights. Brake lights are working.
I\'ve checked my fuses in the engine bay. I\'m seeing the power change going into the TNS relay and power is shown on the feed in and out side of the bit it.
The TNS isn\'t clicking when the lights are turned on though the meter shows a change in voltage when the combination switch is turned on ! Can I wire a normal one in ? Would this cause my indicators not to work too ?
I can\'t find any plug I haven\'t plugged back in in the passenger footwell. I have unplugged and re-plugged to no Joy. Which Plugs are the X-06 and X-04 ? All looks like they are plugged in. I only unplugged the engine loom connectors when the engine got pulled out.
I\'ve checked the fuses in the drivers footwell and they all seem fine. Both the Tail and main are fine.
Is there anything else I have missed because this is doing my head in at the minute !!!!!
Shaun
are the lights and indicators on the same switch ??
have you got 12v into the switch
when working on the FC with bad lights - i was only getting 9v into the switch - which inturn wasnt enough to make the lights work
its only a thought .. as i have no idea about FD\'s
glad to here its back and working again though :D :D
If it were TNS issues you\'d probably have headlights, but no side or tail.
Have you got cluster illumination?
Worth checking the dash dimmer switch - that does all sorts of voodoo shizzle when it brakes. You can bypass it by earthing one of the pins on the multi plug, but I can\'t remember which.
If you pull the TNS and bridge the switched terminals, what happens?
When I turned the switch there was power switching on and off in to the TNS Relay so I think my combination switch is fine. Everything did work before I took the engine loom out and I can\'t remember unplugging anything.
Friend has give me an auto electricians number so probably going to get them to have a look.
It could be some simple but it is doing my head in !
I\'ll try bridging the switched terminals when I get home. Will check my F100 too !!!!
Cheers
Shaun
There is nothing inside or outside of the car working on the lights and indicator front which would point to a plug ?
Shaun
Yeah, it sounds like plug/loom tbh dude, but I\'m struggling to think where - it\'d be down by the main driver\'s fuse box IIRC.
Got it booed in Friday with a recommended electrician. Hopefully it will just be a missed plug !
Shaun
i didnt think of the auto electrician - Mobilemick ( had the yellow FC drop top ) is an auto electrician !!
Don\'t give up! Think of the satisfaction! Check for power at the stalk to start with :)
Did think about Mick but he may not have thanked me for the rollcage ! Plus he is bolton based !

Well update on progress. Got woken up on Wednesday night 12:45 that my headlights where on ! Got up and turned them off. The low beam where still not working and the drivers side indicator wasn\'t working too !
Waited in for the electrician on Friday and he didn\'t bother to turn up :reallymad . Got up today and went through the wiring again and I now have low beam, high beam and indicators working. Turns out the plug between the bumper and the lights had gone sour on both sides !
Still got a problem with the retractor on the passenger side. Unplugged it and tested the motor. Seems to have died. Going to try and get a replacement and see if that sorts the issue !
Cheers Guys :D
Shaun
Well I think that is good news isn\'t it?
Very good, can actually start putting some miles on for oulton.
Emailed a guy on eBay for my replacement motor too.
Shaun
If they are the same as the FC ones I have a spare.
Not too sure mate ! Jit on fduk has one for 35quid all in which is about the same as the guy on eBay !
