Title: Constant Beeping
Post by: Christiez on October 10, 2010, 12:52:09 PM
Afternoon,

Looking for some advice if possible..

Seems like I am being warned about something although I have no idea what as no warning lights are coming on but I am getting beep after beep noises, even before i start the motor.

I have done the usual checks water, oil etc but can\'t seem to find anything unusual.

Any ideas?

If it\'s a beep-be-be-be-beeep noise then it\'s the ignition telling you that the keys\' in the ignition and the doors open (or you\'ve left the lights on) lol. If it\'s more of a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep (constant tone but sometimes broken or changing in pitch) it\'s probably the low coolant buzzer. There should be a warning light to accompany the beep, shows on the stock coolant temp gauge as "Add Coolant". It\'s a single-wire sensor on the coolant filler neck, so if it break continuity (and they\'re really flimsy wires) it\'ll beep even when the coolant level\'s fine. Try earthing the wire straight out and see if that stops it

Thanks for the reply nik, the beeping is like beep beep beep beep over and over again, i do get the keys in the ignition warning but this is a different beep and continues while driving.

Is the beeping not coming from the F100 unit under the dash? Sure I had a similar very annoying beep and after much research here and some expert advise I replaced the F100 unit and no more beeping

The F100 relay isn\'t expensive, around a tenner or so for a used one, i\'ve always found that when mine have gone that the electric windows go up in short bursts rather than in one motion and the seatbelt light flashes even when you have your seatbelt on.
You\'ll find it just to the right up above the gas peddle with a sticker bearing F100 on it.
Dave.

When I had my fault it was only the annoying beeping noise. Windows etc worked as they should. Should be able to pick one up from a scrap yard if they have an fd and/or Jimmys or one of the other specialists. Won\'t be expensive, and easy enough to replace

Thanks for the replies!  Think you maybe onto a winner due to my passenger side window playing up at the minute also.

Thanks again.

It was on and off to begin with and then on the way to JAE it stopped and didn\'t hear it again.  After a few days sitting on the drive I turn the key and straight away the beeping started up again.
