Title: 4x114 to 4x100 hub swap?
Post by: rotorhead666 on May 29, 2004, 09:48:03 AM
is it practical to change the hubs from a 1st generation mark 3 (4x114)to those of an earlier model(4x100)?i\'m thinking that it\'s not possible because of the drum brakes on the rear of the earlier models. If it\'s not possible to put 1st gen hubs on,could similar items from an mx-5 be fitted?i ask this strange question because i\'m getting rather frustrated at the wheels on ebay all seeming to be 4x100(the ones i like anyway!),the 4x114s are either not to my taste or overpriced.Has anyone actually ever done this?i\'m sure/hoping plenty of people have or know something about it!

The old school and RX--7 series 1 mk1 and 11 actually have 110mm pcd which is pretty well unique to 1970\'s Mazdas, so you\'d be even worse off for choice than your current 114.3mm (4.5") pcd, at least there is some choice....most British sports cars.

There isn\'t any straight swaps available to get to 100mm, you have to weld up, re-drill and stud, which is a little tricky, but possible.
