Title: 20th Anniversary of Mazda winning at Le Mans -9/10 July 2011
Post by: Lisa on October 04, 2010, 12:51:35 PM

We have been invited by the MX-5 OC to join them in the 20th Anniversary of Mazda winning at Le Mans.

This is a one-off, not to be repeated event designed to celebrate a number of notable Mazda anniversaries which will occur in 2011, including the famous Mazda victory in the Le Mans 24 hour race, together with the introduction of various Limited Edition MX-5’s in the UK and Japan, in 1991. The full range of MX-5’s will be featured at the rally as we are also including the 10th anniversary car from 1999, the 3rd generation Launch Edition from 2005, and 20th anniversary cars from 2010.

Since the Mazda 787B race car was powered by a rotary engine, we are inviting owners of Mazda RX7 and RX8 rotary cars to join us at Beaulieu, to add further interest and variety to the event.

For more details of this event see here:-

http://www.mx5beaulieu.co.uk/

It would be great to get a large number of different model so RX-7\'s and Rx-8 to attend this event.

I appreciate that this is not until July 2011, but if you stumble acorss this thread and would be interested in attending please add your name to the list and the copy and paste the listing into your own post to keep the names attending together.

Lisa / Clive.

As this is arranged by MX5OC, it seems to be mainly "MX-5" related (demos of various MX5s, and talks from MX5 designers etc.); a Gymkhana/Autosolo is planned, which many of us will probably joint in the fun etc.

Is there anything in addition planned by MRC, after all we are supposed to be celebrating a "Rotary" win? :-)

When do we need to start registering/paying, and will that be handled through MRC or should we do that individually via the MX5Beauliea website??

Hi Sean

Please see this thread now with regards to registration.

With regards to MRC planning anything, we have not thought about anything, but if members would like to come up with ideas then we will be happy to look at these.

:eek: Must be a hoax, surely? Some hacker got onto the website?

Seems odd this far in advance that they couldn\'t find anyone to take over the organisation of the event, should the message prove to be accurate. How embarassing.....

Gobsmacked - maybe we should just try and book direct with Beaulieu to have a meet of rotaries there on that Sunday, in honour of the Le Mans victory. The RX8OC did a meet there in recent times if I remember correctly?

Malcolm

I have had an email from Allan Legg the organiser who has advised that due to his poor health, that the event has been cancelled.

I will contact Beaulieu today to see what I can sort out.

Hi Dave

At the moment I have contacted Bealieu to see if we can have a Mazda rally on Sunday 9th July. The MX-5 event is cancelled on the Beulieu event site.

I will keep you posted, if we get the go ahead, then I will get people to post out on the MX-5 forums.
