Title: Power steering pump
Post by: SSScoupe on October 01, 2010, 06:07:57 PM
I seem to be missing mine!  It looks like a previous owner has removed it... car drives fine on the move and has good feel but parking is pretty heavy, and i have a trapped nerve in my shoulder which reverse parking seems to agrivate :2Rolleyes.  Any one have one or can point me in the right direction??

You might need more than just the pump, the previous owner probably removed all the pipes as well...

I might have one that u can have for cheap if I can remember where I\'ve stored it. I took mine out about 6 months ago, lol

I m guessing that the four bolts seen here would have held the pump?  I ve no idea what the pipework would have looked like and where it would have gone?

Yours might have been modded to run without, is the steering heavy? if its fairly light then you might have a fairly rare manual rack or the racks been modded to run without a pump. if you need a pump/bracket I can help you out but you will need to see whats been done to the rack. (if anything)

Tiddles, thanks for the pics.... really useful.  Especially the N/a pic.  Cheers

Pete- Steering is fine on the move but heavy when at low speeds, especially parking.  I ll have a think about what I want to do!

Here\'s another good link for you to have a read at. If yours has the P/s studs I suspect the rack is P/s rack rather than a manual one, as the easy option is to remove the pump and link the hoses by all accounts. But this link might help you identify which it is.

Sorry for not getting a pic of mine yet. I forgot all about it if I am honest.

No worries, i ll take a look at the link this afternoon.  On to the next problem, whlist trying to fix a creaky front spring this morning ( chopped springs by a previous careful owner by the looks!) I ve managed to snap a stud that mounts the suspension... oh happy days :2Rolleyes  Plus my clutch peddle seems to like sticking down today... oh the fun :2Mad

Just bleed the clutch, use your hand to lift it up and down to go through the bleed process. It just needs to be used but the first signs of worn seals in the slave or master.
The top mounted studs on your struts are just pressed in and can be replaced.
