Title: Lexus Style Lights for the FD
Post by: Welsh Dan on May 28, 2004, 04:32:20 PM
Hi.
I\'ve been offered a set of these to model by one of the local companies. They replace all three parts at the back. I\'m waiting to get a proper picture that I can show you (I only have a small picture that was taken with my phone) . The centre brake light is made up of three small circles to replace the brakelight and silver surround. The outers are made up of two red circles and a clear circle for the indicators.
They\'re going to be retailing at £199.99, but i\'ve been asked to see if I can drum up any interest. I\'m going to be getting probably the first set, just so I can fit them and get some decent pictures, but is there anybody who is likely to be interested?

Thanks

Dan

Edited to Add that they are E-Marked and fully road legal.

I\'m only getting the first set, so I can see what they\'re like. They should go great on a red or silver car, but as my car is being resprayed in gunmetal, i\'ll doubt they\'ll stay.

no he isn\'t, and even if he was, I\'m more interested...

unless him being interested means they get made cheaper, in which case, he is quite interested, along with a number of other interested people, but I\'m the most interested.

Right, I finally have a pic.

TBH, i\'m not a fan of them and so I shan\'t be having a set. However, they\'re now going for £184.99, but they ARE NOT e-marked, which I mistakenly said they were.

Anyway, you can purchase them from here... (http://www.toys4cars.biz/shop/product_info.php?cPath=27_43_520&products_id=2742)

If you get a set, tell them that Dan sent you :)

Thanks

Please, please no. They look so tacky. They belong on a chav nova not an FD the standard lights are perfect.

I have seen these on cars in Japanese mags.
I hadnt seen the centre section before.

They look IMO ... Just ok ....
Design is similar to rx8ish

But I have seen One Custom built set that looks absolutle awesome. Different design though.

This is MY style.
I really like these.

I WILL build some similar.
But I want to keep the Rx7 2Red and 1 Orange layout.

I think they look very modern and almost standard.

I like the spoiler :)

GT Style (but not a crap piece of metal) set low and back.  Thats what I will do if I ever change my standard one.

Martin, they look great! Can i ask where you got them? Or are they a direct result from your hard work? :)

Was thinking how special they\'d look on a black FD...mmmmm!

Shoot me if i\'m barking up the wrong tree but i thought that you need a CE mark or some kind of approval stamp for lights and lenses for road use.

might be complete bollo_s seeing as most FD\'s are imported from Japan and not Europe.

Was just wondering thats all.

Good point fella. E-marking is a phrase that\'s bandied about, not sure how relevant it is to imports though. Perhaps it\'s something that gets sorted in the SVA conversion?

They\'re nice Fish...still i think i prefer the 96+ FD lights! Just shows you how great a design they were...almost 10 years on they\'re still among the nicest rear-light clusters on the road! Then again, same could be said about every aspect of the FD!! :D

What did you say in your emails Danny? "Your lights look crap mate"

Post by: Martin on June 17, 2004, 12:59:49 AM
yeah I made them myself:) with a few pieces of string and some yogurt pots! nah not really:D...I didn\'t/couldn\'t make them, they are custom jobs from Japan, I got these from a japanese guy... theres a company called called R3 Factory, they take your original lights and convert them.

I have to get excited - I have French friends who have taken great delight in making life misery for the last few days.

He... he... oh well until tonight that was.

Besides it\'s nice to win for a change especially after the rugby panning on saturday.

The lights will arrive in 2 weeks time so no \'on the car\' pic, and as a matter of fact I do have their details... but they require your original lights, I just got this pair from someone who had them converted by them.... but hey spam them crazy and see if they reply!:D
