Post by: monterx7 on September 28, 2010, 01:27:39 PM
can someone please help out, was wondering how the 2 nipples on the rear brake calipers work? is one for the pedal brake and one for the handbrake?  was getting ready to bleed my brakes and do i need to bleed both nipples?  always wondered but never bothered to ask, so here i am asking:Thumbsup!

Hi Monte
I trust you are well.

i dont recall 2 nipples on the rear calipers of a 2nd gen but generally with any other caliper with 2 nipples, you need to bleed both,  not at the same time.

The calipers on the front of my kit car have 2 as do most \'performance\' billet type calipers and i have to bleed both on those.

Never knew there were 2 nipples on the rears, even after rebuilding my calipers I only bled the top ones.  Might have a look this weekend and bleed the lower ones too; see if I can tease any more air bubbles out.

something about ( IIRC ) if you rebuild the caliper you have to do both ( or change the lines )

if you are just bleeding the brakes then you need to do just one ( although im not sure which )

According to the manual - bottom one is the normal bleed nipple, the upper one is used if the caliper has been emptied / replaced - although that \'seems\' back to front to me ??
