I sometimes have a problem with the engine flooding when starting. Am i doing something wrong ????? any suggestions,
The only time I\'ve ever had flooding on the FD is if I start the car from cold and move it a short distance and switch off.
When you switch off try holding the revs @ 3k, switch off, then put your foot to the floor until the engine stops. Always works for me.
First of all welcome to Mazdarotaryclub,
If your flooding problems are when moving it from cold then your advise is above,
If your flooding problems are when hot after say, filling up with fuel then this could indicate a low compression engine, however it may not be this as Mazda actualy realised that some RX-8\'s have problems if they are pre- 2006 and issued an upgrade of "hotter" spark plugs and a new much faster starter motor.
Hope this helps
It could also be poor coilpacks producing a weak spark. It may be worth changing them too.
Hi and welcome to MRC! :wave
As the guys have said it could be a number of things.
If you can post up some more details like the age of the car, excactly what\'s happening and when (ie when it\'s cold or hot) then I\'m sure we can help you get to the bottom of it.

My Rx8 is a 04 plate and does not get used for 2 weeks a month and has done 30000 miles. The problem is only when I try to start it from cold but it has happened when i mist it when turning on the ignition. The car is in a garage and not sitting in bad weather. When i turn it off i hold it at 3K and when i start it i keep the key on until it kicks in
thanks les
