Title: won\'t idle/run properly
Post by: redgti on September 22, 2010, 05:07:36 PM
All of the following is on a 1989 uk egi.

Ok guys will talk you through what i have been doing. Changed my exhaust manifold and decided to redo all the silicone hoses about the place as a few of the snapped while i was messing aroud near the inlet.
But now my car won\'t run properly sounds like it is almost firing on one rotor and runs really really rough and will not idle most of the time it dies.

I had taken the inlet manifold off, so put in a new card gasket as there was an air leak there first time i started it.

I used 2 blanking plates on the back of the inlet manifold and gasket sealer on them where i removed some of the emissions stuff. Do i need to change anything else after i have removed the emissions things.

I checked all the vac hoses all seem to be on, in the right place and tight.

All connectors are back on checked the injector connectors as well.

Now the only thing is i broke the sensor in the bottom of the radiator so will be getting a new one through tomorrow, could it be this that is causing all the problems.

What else could be the problems to check cheers.
James

Sounds like you have an air leak from either the hoses or one of the blanking plates has not sealed off properly

If the engine can suck in air from somewhere it shouldn\'t then it will run rough
