Title: Clutch Life
Post by: JasonC on September 21, 2010, 02:19:54 PM
So i think my clutch has started to slip, not badly i\'ll add, the thing is its not that old!
Basically it feels like it slips slightly between 2500 -3000rpm, only in  higher gears (3rd onwards) say if i\'m cruising at 2k and put the foot  down a bit. Thought it was misfire at first but changing the coils and plugs didnt sort it.

The clutch is one of the exedy uprated ones from mrp (im not sure exactly which as it was put on by previous owner), i reckon its only done 12k tops - seems a bit soon to me?

Sounds like classic dead clutch symptoms.

What power are you running? Those kits are only uprated pressure plates and sort of OEM spec discs aren\'t they? If so, and you\'re runnign decent power, I can\'t see them lasting too long.

Yeah, i reckon it is more or less oem. Im not running severe high power, on twins 300fwhp. Wondering what clutch to go for, i don\'t really want to burn another one out after 10k! Maybe i should drive it a bit more sympathetically:Giggle

Going through receipts for the car there, turns out the clutch is a wee bit older than i first thought, new clutch time!
Cheers.
