Title: Stretched tyres or not
Post by: Koose on September 20, 2010, 12:39:49 PM
Hi guys

Well time is getting on and i have to decide whether to go for the \'scene\' stretched tyre or full fat.

I just want the car to be as fast around a track as possible. Ive heard pros and cons about both.

Fronts are 17 x 8, rears are 17 x 9

Not a fan of stretch tyres.

I think they can be very dangerous

Had no issues with mine, but then again I havent had mine out on track, but i can see the issues as surely it would make it easier for the tire bead to move than if it was pushed up against the inside of the rim of the tyre when properly fitted

well if the rims poke, you wont have a lot of choice!

if they don\'t, you\'d have to spend money on spacers to make sure they poke

Known two people to have blown tyres on the stretched tyres, one was lucky to walk away from the car alive, the car was less fortunate, the sidewalls overheat when on load and will eventually fail IMO
