Title: Headlight Issue FD3
Post by: leeroy_25 on September 19, 2010, 08:17:31 PM
Thought I would find a thread on this but no such luck. My passenger side headlight starting messing about today. When you turn them on it comes up a little bit then stops. Other side is fine. When you switch them off it pops right up then goes down? I thought it might be sticky motor or dodgy connection so I pressed the button on the dash to flip it up so I could get a drop of oil around it only to find it was going up and down fine? Then I realised it pops up and down fine if you press the button on the dash but sticks halfway up if you turn the lights on at the stork? Can someone please let me know what\'s wrong and the fix?!

Cheers
Lee

right can you get a multi meter id sugest checking the motor for the pop ups mate im guessing when you turn on the head lights this activates a relay to give the motor power to lift . and im guessing the switch on the dash work via another feed . if the lights pop up with the switch  but not with the lights then i might guess the motor isnt recieving the right amount of juice to lift the head light . that or a dodgy relay perhaps have to get ya hands dirty and dig about .

I tried to clean the plug which didn\'t help.. I was just confused why it was working from one switch and not the other.. Presumably it\'s not the light.. So I will try and find the relay then... Would be helpful to know if the switch goes via a different relay and if so which relays work which feed. I  will see if I can find a wiring diagram and make head or tail of it! Electrics is not my strong point!
