Title: Another MOT Failure
Post by: FD3S Efini on September 16, 2010, 12:43:41 PM
Ok,

Went to get my 94 FD MOT\'d today, spoke to the bloke and seemed decent enough then he comes along and tells me my car has failed on emmisions straight away so i ask him what test he was doing, turned out he was doing the wrong one,

i tried to speak with him again and let him know it required the non cat test dude to the year and it was an import....out came the book showing me scribings about the MOT procedure...they turned out to be the wrong one,

adamant i was wrong i had to provide the flow chart showing him what test to run, he admitted defeat and put it through the non cat test...still a failure lol the results were:

CO 5.864% (it should be <=3.500%) Fail

HC 856 ppm (Pass)

Is there anything i can do?

my car has non sequential, decat, bigger FM intercooler, apexi intakes, HKS downpipe (i believe) and racing beat twin pipe exhaust. all managed by my Power FC, i cant play with my pim voltage because it is currently set to 50% on every setting as i need this for my mapping.

any help would be much apreciated, or is anyone here an MOT inspector in the gloucestershire area?

Cheers

Kris

You need the PFC unlocking which is what I\'m guessing is why you can\'t alter yours. Putting the PIM voltage to 50% has been done by whoever mapped it as you can alter it with a Datalogit.

if im honest it was a while ago and my memory is a little hazy lol but i think i took the car for a hard run to clear out the carbon from the engine by redlining it when it was up to tempreture and getting them to test the emmisions straight away so it was fresh and ready to go

Hopoe this helps, other people have good ideas aswell so hopefully there will be some replys with more help then me lol

Anyways good luck on your next test and let us know how it goes
